1. Accidents between pedestrians, bicyclists and motorized vehicles: Accident risk and injury severity
Sammanfattning : The aims of this work are to better understand (1) the relation between exposure and the risk of an accident between pedestrians and motorized vehicles and between bicyclists and motorized vehicles occurring at urban intersections and (2) how the speed environment and the victim´s age relate to the injury severity/outcome once a pedestrian or a bicyclist has been struck by a motorized vehicle. Cross sectional studies are used, and the relations are analyzed using multinomial logit models, negative binomial regression and other statistical methods. LÄS MER
2. Modelling Pedestrians in Autonomous Vehicle Testing
Sammanfattning : Realistic modelling of pedestrians in Autonomous Vehicles (AV)s and AV testing is crucial to avoid lethal collisions in deployment. The majority of AV trajectory forecasting literature do not utilize the motion cues present in 3D human pose because it is hard to gather large datasets of articulated 3D pedestrian motion. LÄS MER
3. Sickness absence and disability pension among injured bicyclists and pedestrians
Sammanfattning : Background: Active transportation such as walking and bicycling provides an opportunity for individuals to incorporate physical activity into daily life. It has a positive impact on public health and is an important aspect of a sustainable road transport system. However, it also involves some risks. LÄS MER
4. Safety and mobility of children crossing streets as pedestrians and bicyclists
Sammanfattning : The content of this thesis is safety and mobility of children crossing streets as pedestrians and bicyclists. The risk of fatal injury is higher for pedestrians and bicyclists, especially for children and elderly, than for other road users except motorcyclists. LÄS MER
5. Drivers overtaking cyclists and pedestrians: Modeling road-user behavior for traffic safety
Sammanfattning : In a world aiming to shift to more sustainable modes of transportation, vulnerable road users (VRUs) like cyclists and pedestrians are still confronted with significant barriers to safety, particularly on rural roads where overtaking maneuvers represent a frequent and dangerous interaction with motorized traffic. If drivers misjudge their kinematics, even near-crashes without physical contact can harm the perceived safety of the VRU, which may decrease the willingness to continue cycling or walking on these roads.
