11. Manipulation of Light with Transformation Optics
Sammanfattning : Transformation optics, a recently booming area, provides people a new approach to design optical devices for manipulating light. With transformation optics, a lot of novel optical devices are proposed, such as invisibility cloaks, optical wormholes, optical black holes, illusion devices. LÄS MER
12. Theoretical quantum optics with giant atoms
Sammanfattning : Giant atoms have emerged as new paradigm in quantum optics during the last decade. These are quantum emitters that couple to light—or other bosonic fields—at multiple discrete points, which can be spaced wavelengths apart. LÄS MER
13. Designer magnetoplasmonics for adaptive nano-optics
Sammanfattning : Materials that provide real-time control of the fundamental properties of light at visible and near-infrared frequencies enable the essential components for future optical devices. Metal nanostructures that couple electromagnetic (EM) radiation on a sub-wavelength length scale to free electrons, forming propagating or localized surface plasmons, provide many exciting functionalities due to their ability to manipulate light via the local EM field shaping and enhancement. 14. Optical Analysis of biological media - continuous wave diffuse spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : The main topic of this thesis is real-time quantification of relevant chromophores and light scattering elements in biological media. The presented methods and instrumentation are based on continuous wave (steady-state) optical measurements of (a) spatially-resolved diffuse reflectance from bulk media and (b) combined spatially-resolved and goniometric measurements of re-emitted light from thin samples. 15. Holographic descriptions of collective modes in strongly correlated media
Sammanfattning : Solving the puzzle of high temperature superconductivity may be one of the most desired scientific breakthroughs of our time, as access to room temperature superconductivity could revolutionize society as we know it. In this thesis, we strive to increase the theoretical understanding of such matter, by studying the phase above, in temperature, the superconducting phase - the "strange metal". LÄS MER
