  1. 1. The search for reversibility of Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus : Aspects on intracranial pressure measurments and CSF volume alteration

    Författare :Niklas Lenfeldt; Jan Malm; Anders Eklund; Katrine Riklund-Åhlström; John D. Pickard; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus; intracranial pressure; subcortical ischemia; neuronal integrity; cortical activation.; infusion test; cerebrospinal fluid dynamics; outflow resistance; compliance; elastance; proton spectroscopy; functional MRI; external lumbar drainage; Neurology; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (INPH) is still a syndrome generating more questions than answers. Today, research focuses mainly on two areas: understanding the pathophysiology – especially how the malfunctioning CSF system affects the brain parenchyma – and finding better methods to select patients benefiting from a shunt operation. 2. 2. Existence theorems for noncoercive incremental contact problems with Coulomb friction

    Författare :Andreas Rietz; Lars-Erik Andersson; Jaroslav Haslinger; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematics; Coulomb friction; noncoercive; normal compliance; mollification; MATEMATIK; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Sammanfattning : Friction is a phenomenon which is present in most mechanical devices and frequently encountered in everyday life. In particular, understanding of this phenomenon is important in the modelling of contact between an elastic object and an obstacle. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Olycksfallsrisker i barnets hemmiljö : fokus på skållskador

    Författare :Anna Carlsson; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :accident; burns; child; compliance; intervention; prevention; scalds;

    Sammanfattning : Denna licentiatavhandling syftar till att beskriva barns (0-6 år) utsatthet för olycksfallsrisker i hemmiljön genom att fokusera på omfattningen av bränn- och skållskador, föräldrars uppfattningar om påverkande faktorer till olyckshändelser samt föräldrars uppgifter om egen följsamhet till olycksförebyggande råd och anvisningar. I barnhälsovården (BHV) ges råd och anvisningar kring olika åtgärder lämpliga i förhållande till barns utveckling. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Lung mechanics in the aging lung and in acute lung injury. Studies based on sinusoidal flow modulation

    Författare :Ulrika Bitzén; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diagnostics; Diagnostik; acute lung injury; lung mechanics; acute respiratory distress syndrome; intensivvård; Anestesiologi; intensive care; Anaesthesiology; Andningsorganen; Respiratory system; Fysiologi; Physiology; flow regulation; method; lung resistance; compliance; aging;

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge about lung mechanics is of interest in intensive care to adjust mechanical ventilation and in the lung laboratory for diagnostics and evaluation of patients with various kinds of respiratory diseases. In mechanical ventilation a single inspiratory elastic pressure-volume (Pel/V) curve is difficult to interpret due to continuing re-expansion of collapsed lung units over a large pressure interval. 5. 5. Gait Characteristics, Physical Activity and Subjective Outcome after Shunt Surgery in Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus

    Författare :Johanna Rydja; Fredrik Lundin; Petra Pohl; Mats Tullberg; Erika Franzén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Normal pressure hydrocephalus; Gait; Physical activity; Subjective outcome; Shunt surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Background  Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is a common but under-diagnosed disease among the elderly. The condition is characterised by gait disturbance, postural instability, cognitive decline and incontinence, caused by accumulated cerebrospinal fluid within the central nerve system. LÄS MER
