  1. 1. The neuronal and non-neuronal substance P, VIP and cholinergic systems in the colon in ulcerative colitis

    Författare :Maria Jönsson; Sture Forsgren; Örjan Norrgård; Johan D Söderholm; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ulcerative colitis; neuropeptides; substance P; VIP; non-neuronal cholinergic system; Anatomy; Anatomi; Surgery; Kirurgi; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Sammanfattning : Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic relapsing inflammatory bowel disease. Neuropeptides, especially vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and substance P (SP), have long been considered to play key roles in UC. Among other effects, these neuropeptides have trophic and growth-modulating as well as wound-healing effects. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Quantifying the quality of medical x-ray images. An evaluation based on normal anatomy for lumbar spine and chest radiography

    Författare :Anders Tingberg; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; normal anatomy; free response forced error FFE ; receiver operating characteristics ROC ; visual grading analysis VGA ; European image criteria; quantifying clinical image quality; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Sammanfattning : Optimisation in diagnostic radiology requires accurate methods for determination of patient absorbed dose and clinical image quality. Simple methods for evaluation of clinical image quality are at present scarce and this project aims at developing such methods. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Technomedical Visions : Magnetic Resonance Imaging in 1980s Sweden

    Författare :Isabelle Dussauge; Arne Kaijser; Pär Blomkvist; Eva Åhrén; Anne Beaulieu; KTH; []

    Sammanfattning : The medical imaging technology called MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) stems from a blind measurement technology which was further developed in research and practice to enable seeing into the inner body. Vision with MRI was open-ended, and it was developed and tamed in a context of fragmented medical perspectives on the body and on technology. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Approaches to Pharmacological Treatment and Gene Therapy of Cystic Fibrosis

    Författare :Anca Dragomir; Godfried M. Roomans; Robert Dormer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anatomy; airway epithelium; colchicine; cystic fibrosis; chloride transport; genotype; heparin; phenotype; transfection; X-ray microanalysis; Anatomi; Anatomy; Anatomi;

    Sammanfattning : Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common lethal genetic disease in the white population. It is due to mutations in the gene coding for the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR), a protein that functions mainly as a cAMP-activated chloride channel. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Ultrasound Examination in Infant Clubfoot with Special Emphasis on the Talonavicular and the Calcaneocuboid Joints

    Författare :Ylva Aurell; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
