  1. 16. Inference in Temporal Graphical Models

    Författare :Jonas Hallgren; Timo Koski; Dubhashi Devdatt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tillämpad matematik och beräkningsmatematik; Applied and Computational Mathematics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis develops mathematical tools used to model and forecast different economic phenomena. The primary starting point is the temporal graphical model. Four main topics, all with applications in finance, are studied. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Evolution of host repertoires and the diversification of butterflies

    Författare :Mariana Pires Braga; Niklas Janz; Sören Nylin; Fredrik Ronquist; Alexandre Antonelli; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coevolution; host-parasite interaction; inference; networks; zoologisk ekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : All herbivorous insects are specialized to some extent to their host plants, but the level of specialization varies greatly. Insect-plant coevolution is often invoked to explain the large diversity of herbivorous insects, but the role of specialization during diversification is still controversial. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Improving the accuracy of gene regulatory network inference from noisy data

    Författare :Deniz Seçilmiş; Erik L.L. Sonnhammer; Pierre Geurts; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry towards Bioinformatics; biokemi med inriktning mot bioinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : Gene regulatory networks (GRNs) control physiological and pathological processes in a living organism, and their accurate inference from measured gene expression can identify therapeutic mechanisms for complex diseases such as cancers. The biggest obstacle in achieving the accurate reconstruction of GRNs is called ‘noise’, which considerably alters the measured gene expression because the noise generally dominates the biological signal. Sammanfattning : Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) are emerging as the most popular accelerator for many applications, powering the core of Machine Learning applications and many computing-intensive workloads. GPUs have typically been consideredas accelerators, with Central Processing Units (CPUs) in charge of the mainapplication logic, data movement, and network connectivity. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Urban Travel Time Estimation from Sparse GPS Data : An Efficient and Scalable Approach

    Författare :Mahmood Rahmani; Harilaos Koutsopoulos; Nikolas Geroliminis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; map-matching; path inference; sparse GPS probes; floating car data; arterial; urban area; digital road network; iterative travel time estimation; fixed point problem; Stockholm; taxi; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science;

    Sammanfattning : The use of GPS probes in traffic management is growing rapidly as the required data collection infrastructure is increasingly in place, with significant number of mobile sensors moving around covering expansive areas of the road network. Many travelers carry with them at least one device with a built-in GPS receiver. LÄS MER
