16. Fabrication and Characterization of Plasmonic Nanophotonic Absorbers and Waveguides
Sammanfattning : Plasmonics is a promising field of nanophotonics dealing with light interaction with metallic nanostructures. In such material systems, hybridizationof photons and collective free-electron oscillation can result in sub-wavelength light confinement. LÄS MER
17. Dispersion Relations in Scattering and Antenna Problems
Sammanfattning : This dissertation deals with physical bounds on scattering and absorption of acoustic and electromagnetic waves. A general dispersion relation or sum rule for the extinction cross section of such waves is derived from the holomorphic properties of the scattering amplitude in the forward direction. LÄS MER
18. On droplet interactions and suspension flow
Sammanfattning : Micron to millimetre sized droplets, precisely generated or sustained in controlled environment, have great potential in myriads of engineering applications functioning as the basic element to assemble metamaterials, deliver drugs, host surfactant, reduce friction and damp turbulence. The interaction of droplets from pairwise to collective levels is the most important factor in controlling these processes, yet little is known about the detailed mechanisms in various nonideal conditions. 19. Modulating magnetic interactions : in metamaterials and amorphous alloys
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on exploring and modulating magnetic interactions in metamaterials and amorphous alloys along one-, two-, and three-dimensions. First, thin films of alternating Fe and MgO are adapted to modulate magnetic interactions along one dimension. LÄS MER
20. Optical Studies of Bio-inspired Materials for Camouflage
Sammanfattning : In the ongoing sensor-camouflage duel, new functionalities and sensing abilities are continuously incorporated in detector devices, requiring new capabilities on the camouflage side. The aim of this work is to contribute to improved camouflage including low polarization detectability in wavelength regions with both visible and invisible light. LÄS MER
