21. Hidradenitis suppurativa : clinical studies with focus on evaluation
Sammanfattning : Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of mainly unknown aetiology which in most cases involves axillae or groins and that can last for decades. In this thesis different clinical aspects of HS are studied: development of a clinical scoring system, relation to smoking and obesity, outcome of laser surgery, bacteraemia in HS patients and distribution of the neuroendocrine marker protein gene product (PGP) 9. 22. Investigations of human cortical processing of gentle touch. A study with time-resolved electro-magnetic signal analysis
Sammanfattning : The present work summarizes investigations of the temporal correlates of brain activity elicited by gentle, moving touch on the hairy skin in healthy participants and in epilepsy patients. Light touch to the hairy skin activates two distinct afferent classes: fast conducting, Aβ afferents and slowly conducting C-tactile (CT) afferents. LÄS MER
23. Cryoablation of cardiac arrhythmias
Sammanfattning : This thesis evaluates the safety and efficacy of cryoablation in supraventricular tachyarrhythmias. In Study I, the acute and long-term outcome of cryoablation therapy of typical atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) was studied in a large series of patients (n=312). LÄS MER
24. Pathophysiology of myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries and Takotsubo syndrome
Sammanfattning : Introduction: The working diagnosis myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA), with the subgroup myocardial infarction with normal coronary arteries (MINCA), encompasses conditions of diverse aetiological origin. One of them is Takotsubo syndrome (TTS), a reversible and often stress-induced condition of acute heart failure, predominantly affecting postmenopausal women. LÄS MER
25. Wrist osteoarthritis : causes, treatment and outcome
Sammanfattning : Wrist osteoarthritis is rare compared to osteoarthritis in the finger joints or thumb base and affects younger patients. Its etiology is heterogenous, and osteoarthritis may be caused by traumatic injuries, as well as by nontraumatic medical conditions. LÄS MER
