  1. 1. Low-dose computed tomography of the abdomen and lumbar spine

    Författare :Muhammed Alshamari; Håkan Geijer; Seppo Koskinen; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tomography; X-Ray Computed; Radiography; Radiation Dosage; Abdomen; Spine; Lumbosacral Region; Regression Analysis; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Radiography is a common radiologic investigation despite abundant evidence of its limited diagnostic value. On the other hand, computed tomography (CT) has a high diagnostic value and is widely considered to be among the most important advances in medicine. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Reduction of refining energy during mechanical pulping : using pressurised chip compression and sulphite pre-treatment

    Författare :Erik Nelsson; Geoffrey Daniel; Mittuniversitetet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Chip pre-treatment; double disc refiner; energy efficiency; Impressafiner; low dosage; Norway spruce; refining intensity; single disc refiner; sulphite pre-treatment; thermomechanical pulp;

    Sammanfattning : The effects of pressurised compressive chip pre-treatment and low dosage sulphite pre-treatment were evaluated for production of thermomechanical pulp in mill scale trials using Norway spruce (Picea abies) at the Braviken paper mill (Holmen Paper AB, Sweden). The general aim of the study was to improve the energy efficiency during the production of mechanical pulps suitable for news and improved news grade papers. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Conventional spiral and low-dose computed mandibular tomography for dental implant planning

    Författare :Annika Ekestubbe; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Artifacts; Dental Implantation; Endosseous; methods; Dental Implants; Humans; Jaw; Edentulous; radiography; Mandible; radiography; Patient Care Planning; Phantoms; Imaging; Radiation Dosage; Radiography; Dental; methods; Reproducibility of Results; Tomography; X-Ray; instrumentation; methods; Tomography; X-Ray Computed; methods;

    Sammanfattning : Absorbed doses to radiosensitive organs in the head and neck from pre-implant conventional hypocycloidal, conventional spiral and computed tomography (CT) were measured with thermoluminescent dosimeters in an anthropomorphic phantom head. From conventional tomography organ doses, except to the major salivary glands, were below 0.2 mGy. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Potential of Organosolv Lignin Nanoparticles as a Sustainable Flotation Reagent : Towards a Low-Carbon Footprint Mining Industry

    Författare :Katerina Hruzova; Ulrika Rova; Saija Luukkanen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Organosolv lignin particles; Nanoparticles; Flotation reagent; Copper recovery; Biokemisk processteknik; Biochemical Process Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The green transition is driving a steep increase in the demand for minerals, which has put the focus on more responsible and sustainable mining practices as there is a growing pressure on mining operations to minimise their environmental footprint, mitigate risks in neighbouring communities, and decrease the consumption of natural resources. In 2022, mineral froth flotation was used to recover 18 million tonnes of copper from copper ore, accounting for 80% of total copper mine output. LÄS MER
