  2. 2. Human-Robot Interaction for Semi-Autonomous Assistive Robots : Empirical Studies and an Interaction Concept for Supporting Elderly People at Home

    Författare :Marcus Mast; Arne Jönsson; Michael Burmester; Jonas Lundberg; Tony Belpaeme; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Semi-autonomous assistive robots; human-robot interaction; user interface design; teleoperation; telemanipulation; elderly people; global environment maps; stereoscopy; Semi-autonoma robotar; människa-robotinteraktion; gränssnittsdesign; distansstyrning; distansmanipulation; äldre; globala omgivningskartor; stereoskopisk;

    Sammanfattning : The research addresses current shortcomings of autonomous service robots operating in domestic environments by considering the concept of a semi-autonomous robot that would be supported by human remote operators whenever the robot cannot handle a task autonomously. The main research objective was to investigate how to design the human-robot interaction for a robotic system to assist elderly people with physical tasks at home according to this conceptual idea. 3. 3. Parkinson’s Disease and Communication : Intelligibility, Interaction and Participation

    Författare :Inga-Lena Johansson; Nicole Müller; Christina Samuelsson; Christina Reuterskiöld; Margaret Walshe; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Parkinson’s disease; Intelligibility; Speech acoustics; Interaction; Communicative participation; Communication partner;

    Sammanfattning : Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder affecting dopamine production in the basal ganglia. It is a common cause of disability among elderly people. The main symptoms are tremor, rigidity, and bradykinesia, but there is a substantial individual variation of how the disease manifests itself. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Moments on a City Bus : Micro-sociology of Non-verbal Interaction in Urban Bus-riding

    Författare :Magdalena Vieira; Sandra Torres; Elin Thunman; Philip Lalander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; public places; mundane; non-verbal interaction; interaction moments; gestures; homogeneous heterogeneous interaction; micro-sociology; Goffman; bus-riding; riders; time; space; bodies; interaction norms; structured participant observation; fieldnotes; territories; involvement; rituals; Sociologi; Sociology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis seeks to contribute to research on social interaction in public (and semi-public) places in general, and research on non-verbal mundane interaction in these places in particular. By paying empirical attention to the non-verbal interaction that takes place in the context of riding a city bus – which is a contained and time-limited form of social activity – this thesis explores the theoretically rich source of information about mundane interaction that this specific social activity offers. Sammanfattning : This compilation thesis builds on a number of research projects within the domain of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Firstly, the thesis includes papers in the area of multi-device spatially-aware interactions. Prototypes of future interaction environments were built and evaluated in anticipation of technical developments in mobile sensing. LÄS MER
