    Sammanfattning : The dissertation is an investigation of Sirkas-sijdda, a Sámi hunting society in the interior of northern Sweden in the period AD 1-1600. The principal sources are historical evidence for the period around 1600, which saw the beginnings of colonial settlement and reindeer pastoralism, and for the earlier period archaeological data from excavations.     Sammanfattning : The history of death is entangled with the history of changing social values, meaning that a shift in attitudes to death will be consistent with changes in a society’s world view.Late Mesolithic shell middens in the Tagus and Sado valleys, Portugal, constitute some of the largest and earliest burial grounds known, arranged and maintained by people with a hunting, fishing, and foraging lifestyle, c 6000–5000 cal BCE.     Sammanfattning : The thesis discusses the social, economic and ideological setting in which megalithic tombs were produced in western Sweden in the time period c. 4700-4500 BP. In this short time, some 80 tombs were built in Bohuslän and more than 250 in Falbygden in Västergötland, while no tombs were built in other areas of western Sweden. LÄS MER
