  1. 1. Sampling and Selective Detection of Peptides and Proteins Emphazing Microdialysis,Bio-recognition Assays and MALDI-TOF MS

    Författare :Sven Kjellström; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cyclodextrines; protein identification; m-dispenser; push-pull microdialysis; microdialysis sampling; MALDI-TOF MS; Interleukin-8; Flow immuno assays; Interleukin-10; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The use of microdialysis sampling and flow immunochemical detection as well as MALDI-TOF MS for peptide and protein analysis is described. Sampling of peptides and smaller proteins was investigated with different membranes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Enzymatic and Immunological Detection Principles for Environmental and Biological Applications

    Författare :Elisabeth Burestedt; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; interleukin-8; D-ammino acids; carbon paste; flow immunoassays; Amperometric biosensors; phenols; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis was to develop new analytical detection principles based on enzymatic and immunological reactions for sensitive, selective, cost-effective and high sample through-put detection devices. The thesis presents the basic elements and reaction paths necessary for the construction and development of enzyme based amperometric biosensors and immunoassays. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Epidermal Reactions to Injury with Implications for Innate Immunity

    Författare :Markus Roupé; Infektionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Innate immunity; epidermis; Wound healing; interleukin-8; Antimicrobial peptides;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The epidermis is one of our primary interfaces towards the external milieu. Following injury, the physical barrier function of the skin is destroyed and the epidermis is left vulnerable to microbial invasion. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Functional dualism of antimicrobial host defence peptides

    Författare :Åse Björstad; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :antimicrobial; apoptosis; cathelicidin; host defence peptide; interleukin 8; LL-37; permeabilisation;

    Sammanfattning : Antimicrobial host defence peptides are central to innate immunity and many possess direct antimicrobial actions on bacteria as well as indirect immunomodulatory functions on human leukocytes. Different variants of the bifunctional Helicobacter pylori peptide, Hp(2-20), were synthesised and inhibition zone assays and chemiluminescence systems were employed for determination of direct antimicrobial action and superoxide release (immunomodulatory) from human neutrophils, respectively. 5. 5. C5a Receptor Expression in Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock

    Författare :Mia Furebring; Jan Sjölin; Per Folllin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Communicable diseases; C5a receptor; granulocyte; severe sepsis; septic shock; chemotaxis; anti-C5a treatment; ex vivo incubation; C5a; interleukin-8; LPS; Infektionssjukdomar; Infectious diseases; Infektionssjukdomar;

    Sammanfattning : In patients with sepsis, the activation of the cascade systems, for example the complement system with the generation of C5a, is followed by a state of immunosuppression with impaired bactericidal capacity caused by suppression of the neutrophil granulocytes. To inhibit the C5a-induced systemic inflammatory and the following anti-inflammatory responses, different anti-C5a strategies have been successful in experimental models of sepsis. LÄS MER
