  1. 11. Functional characterization of a peroxisomal acyltransferase gene family

    Författare :Sarah-Jayne Reilly; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Peroxisomes are cell organelles that play an important role in the metabolism of a variety of lipids including very long chain fatty acids, dicarboxylic acids, bile acids, and xenobiotic carboxylic acids. The metabolism of lipids in peroxisomes requires the concerted efforts of many different enzymes, which includes members of the type I acyl-CoA thioesterase/acyltransferase protein family and the nudix hydrolases. 2. 12. Gene expression in carcinogenesis

    Författare :Heléne Fischer; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : It is important to understand the processes of carcinogenesis and to find out which genes are involved . One way to study the process on a molecular basis is to identify differences in gene expression. LÄS MER

  3. 13. The paralemmin protein family : Phosphoproteins involved in filopodia and dendritic spine formation

    Författare :Nicole G. Neumann; Klas Kullander; Karin Nordström; Eirc Hanse; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Dendritic spines, which connect neurons with each other, constitute most of the excitatory synapses and undergo experience-dependent neuronal plasticity. The function of dendritic spines and their synaptic strength are highly correlated with morphological changes. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Evolutionary Genomics of Nematode-Trapping Fungi

    Författare :Tejashwari Meerupati; MEMEG; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nematode-trapping fungi; Comparative Genomics; Comparative Transcriptomics; Differential gene expression; Gene duplication; Parasitism; Protein family expansion.;

    Sammanfattning : Nematode-trapping fungi are ubiquitous, soil-living organisms with the ability to infect and kill nematodes. These fungi have developed specialized infection structures for the capture of nematodes. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Towards improved management of Lynch syndrome; ovarian cancer profiles, risk perception, knowledge and family perspectives

    Författare :Katarina Bartuma; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ovarian cancer; Lynch syndrome; family relations; communication; interview; genetic knowledge; risk perception; questionnaire; gene expression profiling; array CGH; hereditary breast and ovarian cancer; mismatch repair;

    Sammanfattning : Lynch syndrome (hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer) is one of the most common hereditary cancer syndromes and predisposes to several cancer types, including cancer of the colorectum, endometrium and ovaries. Cancer develops at an early age and one third of the individuals are affected by a metachronous cancer. LÄS MER
