1. Aromatic Polymers Functionalized with Anionic and Cationic Groups for Ion Exchange Membranes
Sammanfattning : Fuel cells, redox flow batteries and some water desalination technologies such as reverse osmosis and electrodialysis require efficient ion exchange membranes to perform in an optimum way. Thus, by enhancing the properties of these membranes there is a possibility to improve this type of applications and technologies. LÄS MER
2. Point defects and ion conduction in solid oxides: a first-principles case study of La2Zr2O7
Sammanfattning : In the endeavor to attain a clean environment and sustainable energy consumption, the notion of a future hydrogen economy stands out as one of the grandest visions. Striving for this vision, a critical task lies in optimizing the performance of the fuel-cell devices responsible for extracting electric power from the energy stored in hydrogen molecules. LÄS MER
3. Atomistic Modelling of Materials for Clean Energy Applications : hydrogen generation, hydrogen storage, and Li-ion battery
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a number of clean-energy materials for hydrogen generation, hydrogen storage, and Li-ion battery energy storage applications have been investigated through state-of-the-art density functional theory. As an alternative fuel, hydrogen has been regarded as one of the promising clean energies with the advantage of abundance (generated through water splitting) and pollution-free emission if used in fuel cell systems. 4. Functional nanocomposites for advanced fuel cell technology and polygeneration
Sammanfattning : In recent decades, the use of fossil fuels has increased exponentially with a corresponding sharp increase in the pollution of the environment. The need for clean and sustainable technologies for the generation of power with reduced or zero environment impact has become critical. LÄS MER
5. Neutron Emission Spectrometry for Fusion Reactor Diagnosis : Method Development and Data Analysis
Sammanfattning : It is possible to obtain information about various properties of the fuel ions deuterium (D) and tritium (T) in a fusion plasma by measuring the neutron emission from the plasma. Neutrons are produced in fusion reactions between the fuel ions, which means that the intensity and energy spectrum of the emitted neutrons are related to the densities and velocity distributions of these ions.
