    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study has been to investigate, through the narratives of ex-perienced teachers, insights and strategies in the teaching of history in upper secondary school. Based on a flexible grounded theory, life history and theories of pedagogical content knowledge, seven experienced history teachers have been interviewed about their conceptions of history teaching. A subordinate aim was to explore relevance in this connection of eight studies carried out by the author 1979 – 1999 concerning three basic areas: the pedagogical processes at the school level, at the teacher education level and at the level of school change.     Sammanfattning : Recent research has claimed that learning designs can strengthen the teaching profession by acknowledging teachers’ role as designers as they use these to disseminate good teaching ideas about digital technology to colleagues in schools and universities.
