  1. 1. The dynamic envelope of a fusion class II virus : molecular reorganizations during prefusion stages of Semliki forest virus

    Författare :Lars Haag; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Alphavirus; SFV; fusion; cryo-EM; formaldehyde; reorganization; cross-link; 3D reconstruction; acid pH; Pepscan; MAb; inactivation; dissociation; monoclonal antibody;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to explore a membrane fusion mechanism, prevailing in alphaviruses and known as virus class 11 fusion. The model virus for this mechanism is Semliki Forest virus (SFV) of the alphavirus family. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Novel methods to synthesize aliphatic polyesters of vivid architectures

    Författare :Rajiv Srivastava; Ann-Christine Albertsson; Ronnie Palmgren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polyesters; 1; 5-dioxepan-2-one; Caprolactone; Sn Oct 2; Enzyme; Lipase-CA; Ring-Opening Polymerization; Architecture; Tissue Engineering; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Cross-linked films of ε-caprolactone (CL) and 1,5-dioxepan-2-one (DXO) having various mole fractions of monomers and different cross-link densities were prepared using 2,2’-bis-(-caprolactone-4-yl) propane (BCP) as cross-linking agent and Sn(Oct)2 as catalyst. Reaction parameters were examined to optimize the film-forming conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Interplay between superantigens and immunoreceptors

    Författare :Karin Lindkvist; Medicinsk strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; serology; Immunology; TCR; MHC class II; X-ray crystallography; superantigen; staphylococcal enterotoxin; Biofysik; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; Biophysics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the interactions between superantigens and their receptors. Superantigens are proteins that are secreted by various bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. Superantigens are able to cross-link T cells and antigen presenting cells by binding to the T cell receptor (TCR) and MHC class II. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Nuclear envelope protein interaction studies

    Författare :Mohammed Hakim Jaffer Ali; Einar Hallberg; Anki Östlund-Farrants; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Samp1; Nuclear envelope; protein interactions; chemical crosslinking; proteomics; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Sammanfattning : The nuclear envelope (NE) separating the nucleoplasm from cytoplasm consists of two concentric lipid membranes, the outer (ONM) and inner (INM) nuclear membranes, the nuclear pore complexes (NPCs) and an underlying nuclear lamina network. The INM contains more than 100 unique transmembrane proteins of which only a few have been characterized. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Enzymes and genes for microbial metabolism ofoxochlorates

    Författare :Helena Danielsson Thorell; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Oxochlorates can be used as electron acceptors for microbial respiration in a variety of bacterial species, and oxochlorate respiration plays a substantial role in the biotransformation of these environmental contaminants. Although oxochlorate respirers are widely spread in the environment, only few enzymes and even fewer genes, involved in the metabolism of oxochlorates have been isolated and characterised. LÄS MER
