    Sammanfattning : In this study 165 Swedish parents of young children with Downs’s syndrome (DS) were investigated regarding their perception of the quality of the first information and support received after the birth of the child.     Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe the experiences of obstetricians and parents and the attitudes of midwives in relation to critical situations during pregnancy and birth.     Sammanfattning : Essay 1: We use data from a large sample of adoptees born in Sweden to decompose the intergenerational persistence in health inequality across generations into one pre-birth component, measured by the biological parents’ longevity, and one post-birth component, measured by the adopting parents’ longevity. We find that most of the health inequality is transmitted via pre-birth factors. LÄS MER
