  1. 1. Studies on antibodies against phospholipids

    Författare :Leopold Årfors; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Antiphospholipid syndrome; anticardiolipin antibodies; lupus anticoagulants; platelets; platelet activation; complement activation; endothelial cells; thromboxane; prostacyclin; acetylsalicylic acid.;

    Sammanfattning : The main clinical features of the antiphospholipid syndrome (APLS) are arterial and venous thrombosis, repeated spontaneous abortions and thrombocytopenia. Diagnosed concomitant with an underlying disease the designation is secondary APLS; otherwise primary APLS. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies of clinical and haemostatic features associated with antiphospholipid antibodies

    Författare :Anna Vikerfors; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) are associated with a heterogeneous range of clinical conditions with predisposition for thrombosis, pregnancy morbidity and other autoimmune disorders, most frequently systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Both the clinical manifestations themselves and their treatment may be harmful to the affected individuals and aPL testing is still controversial. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Antinuclear and antiphospholipid antibodies versus disease manifestations and clinical outcomes in systemic lupus erythematosus

    Författare :Martina Frodlund; Christopher Sjöwall; Jonas Wetterö; Thomas Skogh; Lene Dreyer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has an exceptionally heterogeneous clinical spectrum, ranging from mild disease limited to skin and joints to severe manifestations with renal disorder, central nervous system disease, severe cytopenias and thromboembolic events. Important clinical challenges include the prediction of disease flares and the identification of individuals that are likely to evolve severe disease with accrual of organ damage and worse prognosis. 4. 4. Thrombotic and cardiac disease in the antiphospholipid syndrome

    Författare :Giorgia Grosso; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a highly heterogeneous disease that presents with obstetric complications and/or thromboembolic events that can hit any side of the vascular tree in an unpredictable way. The common trait among all patients affected by the syndrome is the persistent presence of the antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) and/or a prolonged coagulation time in vitro, the lupus anticoagulant (LA) test. 5. 5. Autoimmunity in Africa: Comparing Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Anti-phospholipid Antibodies in Sudan and Sweden

    Författare :Sahwa Elbagir; Johan Rönnelid; Iva Gunnarsson; Amir I Elshafie; Bo Nilsson; Cem Gabay; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SLE; anti-phospholipid antibodies; IgA; immune complexes; pregnancy; autoimmunity; Sudan; Africa; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic immune complex (IC)-mediated disease with variable prevalence worldwide, reported to be more common in Africans, Hispanics and Asians than in Caucasian populations. Expression of autoantibodies might vary between different ethnic populations due to environmental and genetic factors. LÄS MER
