  1. 1. Effects of Rho kinase, prostacyclin and L-arginine on microvascular permeability and perfusion

    Författare :Cornelia Lundblad; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fysiologi; Physiology; skeletal muscle; Rho kinase; prostacyclin; permeability; NO; experimental brain trauma; brain edema; brain contusion; microcirculation; cerebral perfusion;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents some effects of Rho kinase, prostacyclin (PGI2) and nitric oxide (NO) in relation to trauma and inflammation by evaluating their effects on microvascular perfusion and permeability in mouse brain and in cat skeletal muscle. PGI2 and NO are endogenous vasoactive substances produced by the endothelium. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Severe cerebral emergency : aspects of treatment and outcome in the intensive care patient

    Författare :Marie Rodling Wahlström; Silvana Naredi; Sven-Erik Gisvold; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; severe traumatic brain injury; intracranial pressure-targeted therapy; albumin; prostacyclin; endothelial dysfunction; pro-inflammatory cytokines; subarachnoid haemorrhage; asymmetric dimethylarginine; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology; anestesiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (SAH) are severe cerebral emergencies. They are common reasons for extensive morbidity and mortality in young people and adults in the western world. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Studies on vasoactivity of fibrin(ogen) derived peptides

    Författare :Katarina Saldeen; Asrar Malik; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Fibrin ogen derived peptides; vasoactivity; prostacyclin; nitric oxide; angiotensin converting enzyme; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Fibrin accumulation is a common fmding in many pathological conditions, such as in inflammatory processes, e.g. in the lungs in pneumonia or pulmonary insufficiency after sepsis. During lysis of the fibrin by plasmin or leukocyte elastase, peptides are released that may contribute to the pathophysiological changes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Inflammatory Response in Peripheral Arterial Disease

    Författare :Peter Danielsson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; muskelsystem; reumatologi; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; Skeleton; Polymorphism; Metabolism; Prostacyclin; Microdislysis; Diabetes mellitus; Revascularisation; Angioplasty; Endothelial cells; White blood cells; Inflammation; Peripheral Arterial Disease; muscle system;

    Sammanfattning : Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is the manifestation of atherosclerotic lesions in arteries supplying blood to the legs. Atherosclerosis is now recognized as an inflammatory disease of the vessel wall and important features in the pathophysiology are activation of WBC, endothelial cells and increased levels of inflammatory mediators. 5. 5. ASPECTS OF FLUID THERAPY: An experimental study of the effects of systemic inflammation, microvascular permeability, blood pressure and plasma volume

    Författare :Maris Dubniks; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sepsis; activated protein C; SIRS; albumin; blood pressure; colloids; plasma volume; hypervolaemia; hypovolaemia; microcirculation; noradrenalin; permeability; prostacyclin;

    Sammanfattning : Adequate circulating blood volume is a prerequisite for circulatory stability. Fluid therapy aims at correcting hypovolaemia, and is an important part of the haemodynamic management of perioperative and critically ill patients. LÄS MER
