11. Enantioselective synthesis of citric acid analogues
Sammanfattning : The enantioselective synthesis of (1S,2S)- and (1R,2S)- fluorocitric acid is described. Toxic fluorocitric acid formed enzymaticly from fluoroacetic acid has the 1R,2R configuration. The enzyme citrate (si)-synthase catalyzes the formation of all four isomers of fluorocitric acid. LÄS MER
12. Investigating the Feasibility of using Scandinavian Agricultural Side Streams for the Development of Novel High-Moisture Meat Analogues
Sammanfattning : Meat analogues are products that are supposed to resemble meat in terms of texture, flavour, and also sensory characteristics. They have recently become increasingly popular due to numerous issues related to health, religion, environmental impact and the growing number of vegetarians and vegans. LÄS MER
13. Vitamin D Hydroxylating Enzymes and Analogues in Parathyroid Tumors and Breast Cancer
Sammanfattning : In hyperparathyroidism (HPT) raised serum concentrations of ionized calcium is caused by increased secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH) by parathyroid tumors. Active vitamin D, 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, is known to suppress PTH secretion and to reduce proliferation of parathyroid tumor cells. LÄS MER
14. Hit Identification and Hit Expansion in Antituberculosis Drug Discovery : Design and Synthesis of Glutamine Synthetase and 1-Deoxy-D-Xylulose-5-Phosphate Reductoisomerase Inhibitors
Sammanfattning : Since the discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) as the bacterial agent causing tuberculosis, the permanent eradication of this disease has proven challenging. Although a number of drugs exist for the treatment of tuberculosis, 1.7 million people still die every year from this infection. LÄS MER
15. Synthesis of inositol phosphoglycans and analogues thereof
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the synthesis of inositol phosphoglycans (IPG) corresponding to glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchors found on the cell surface of the parasite Leishmania. Synthesis of an IPG which is a putative second messenger for insulin, and of analogues thereof is also discussed. LÄS MER
