  1. 1. Adolescent behavior : Links to early-life stress and alcohol in male and female rats

    Författare :Stina Lundberg; Erika Roman; Ingrid Nylander; Heidi MB Lesscher; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adolescence; alcohol exposure; behavior; corticosterone; dynorphin; early life; endogenous opioid peptides; Met-enkephalin-Arg6Phe7 MEAP ; individual differences; multivariate concentric square field MCSF ; phenotyping; radioimmunoassay; selective breeding for alcohol consumption; voluntary alcohol intake; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Adolescence is an important developmental phase with large changes in behavior, physiology and neurobiology, which transform an individual from immature child to independent adult. Due to these changes, adolescence is a sensitive period for exposure to environmental factors such as stress and drug exposure; it is also a common age of onset for alcohol consumption as well as several psychiatric disorders. 2. 2. Neurobiological Consequences of Social Conditions and Alcohol Exposure in Adolescent rats

    Författare :Linnea Granholm; Ingrid Nylander; Anne-Lie Svensson; Erika Roman; Maria Ellgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adolescence; alcohol; amphetamine; dopamine; dorsal striatum; dynorphin; endogenous opi- oids; enkephalin; high-speed chronoamperometry; housing conditions; rats; nociceptin orphanin FQ; radi- oimmunoassay; self-administration; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Adolescence represents a time of extensive reorganisation and maturation of brain circuits involved in emotions, motivation and cognition and it is a period particular sensitive for external stimuli. External stimuli can be both socio-environmental factors and exposure to exogenous compounds such as drugs of abuse (e.g. alcohol). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Occupational exposure to fluorinated ski wax

    Författare :Helena Nilsson; Jonathan W. Martin; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Perfluorinated; polyfluorinated; FIS; occupational exposure; ski wax; biotransformation; metabolism; fluorotelomer alcohol; fluorotelomer acid; aerosol; dust; UPLC MS-MS; GC MS-MS; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS) are used in the production of ski wax to reduce the friction between the snow and the ski. In this occupational study of ski wax technicians’ exposure to PFAS and particulate aerosol we have collected whole blood (wb) (n =94), air (n =84) and aerosol (n =159) samples at World Cup events from 2007-2011. 4. 4. Stress, Drugs and Neuroscience : Neurobiological Effects of Social Stressors and Drug Exposure in Young and Adolescent Rats

    Författare :Linnea Granholm; Ingrid Nylander; Erika Roman; Anne-Lie Svensson; Maria Ellgren; Annika Thorsell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adolescence; alcohol exposure; amphetamine; beta-endorphin; dopamine; dynorphin; early life; endogenous opioids; enkephalin; gene expression; high-speed chronoamperometry; nociceptin orphanin FQ; radioimmunoassay; self-administration; social stress; voluntary alcohol intake; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Experiences early in life or during adolescence modulate neuronal networks in the immature brain and consequently lay the foundation for future susceptibility or resilience towards psychiatric disorders. The objective in this thesis is to understand, in part, how the surrounding environment shapes the brain of a young individual. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Early life experiences and alcohol use in youth : An emerging role of the Vesicular Glutamate Transporters

    Författare :Maria Vrettou; Erika Comasco; Ingrid Nylander; Kent W. Nilsson; Åsa Wallén-Mackenzie; Roberto Ciccocioppo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :alcohol; early-life stress; brain; early adulthood; expression; DNA methylation; glutamate; Vesicular Glutamate Transporters;

    Sammanfattning : Initiation of alcohol consumption usually takes place during adolescence, a period characterized by a plethora of physical and emotional changes. Towards early adulthood, hazardous drinking patterns can emerge and potentially lead to the development of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). LÄS MER
