  1. 1. Health Promotion in Diabetes Care : Studies on Adult Type 1 Diabetes Patients

    Författare :Susanne Amsberg; Unn-Britt Johansson; Ulf Adamson; Per-Eric Lins; Regina Wredling; Berit Rokne Hanestad; Sophiahemmet Högskola; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; Diabetes-related distress; Psychometrics; Behaviour modification; Cognitive behaviour therapy; Behavioural medicine; Glycaemic control; Predictor; Lipohypertrophy; Insulin absorption; Injection technique; Nursing; Omvårdnad; Type 1 diabetes; diabetes-related distress; psychometrics; behaviour modification; cognitive behaviour therapy; behavioural medicine; glycaemic control; predictor; lipohypertrophy; insulin absorption; injection technique;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: A landmark report has shown that improving glycaemic control among type 1 diabetes patients markedly reduces diabetes-related complications. In clinical practice, however, many patients have problems in adhering to the treatment, and thus remain in poor glycaemic control. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Living with diabetes during transition to adult life- Relationships, support of self-management, diabetes control and diabetes care

    Författare :Carina Sparud Lundin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adolescents; young adults; type 1 diabetes; paediatric diabetes care; adult diabetes care; diabetes care utilization; transition; glycemic control; grounded theory;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the thesis was to illuminate main concerns related to the transition of adolescents/ emerging adults with Type 1 diabetes to adult life and diabetes care and to gain a deeper understanding of how care providers, patients and their parents handle this situation. In paper I and II, participant observations of visits to physicians, nurses and group sessions (n=51) were conducted in two paediatric (PDC) and two adult (ADC) diabetes clinics as well as interviews with care providers (n=10). 3. 3. Congenital Heart Disease, Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

    Författare :Anna Björk; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Congenital Heart Disease; Diabetes Mellitus; Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus; Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus; Mortality; Morbidity;

    Sammanfattning : Worldwide, 1% of all live born children are born with a congenital heart disease (CHD) and currently >95% reach adulthood due to better diagnostics and medical care. At the same time, Diabetes Mellitus (DM), type 1 (T1DM) and type 2 (T2DM), is increasing worldwide. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Clinical, Genetic and Metabolic Characterisation of LADA (Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults)

    Författare :ÅsaLinda Lethagen; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; metabolic syndrome; insulin sensitivity; insulin secretion; GADabs; glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibodies; Type 2 diabetes; LADA; Type 1 diabetes; IDDM1; IDDM2; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : Latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) comprises about 10% of patients initially diagnosed with type 2 diabetes but who are positive for pancreatic islet antibodies, especially to glutamic acid decarboxylase (GADabs). The present studies focused on clinical, genetic and metabolic characterisation of patients with LADA. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Data integration and visualization in type 2 diabetes research and care: From biological mechanisms to precision medicine

    Författare :Olof Asplund; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Type 2 diabetes T2D ; human pancreatic islets; human skeletal muscle; transcriptomics; genomics; phenomics; ANDIS; diabetes; diabetics;

    Sammanfattning : Background. Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a complex heterogeneous disorder affecting multiple organs. Gene expression studies in organs central to T2D, such as pancreatic islets and skeletal muscle will help elucidate and disentangle molecular mechanisms underlying T2D. LÄS MER
