21. Cervical ripening : an inflammatory process involving cytokines, metalloproteinases and foetal fibronectin
Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis was to identify cytokines, metalloproteinases and foetal fibronectin in human cervical tissue and to investigate if changes are of importance for the final cervical ripening. The human cervical ripening is a prerequisite for a normal start and progress of labour. LÄS MER
22. Matrix metalloproteinases in natural killer cells. Expression of MMPs, IL-2 activation and killer cell interactions with Matrigel® and model tumours
Sammanfattning : Introduction: IL-2 activated natural killer (A-NK) cells can recognize malignant cells and exert tumouricidal activities by multiple mechanisms that require close contact with the target cells. Upon adoptive transfer, some A-NK cells accumulate in tumours by migrating from the vascular bed to a position inside the malignant tissue, forming close contacts with target cells. LÄS MER
23. Matrix degrading proteases in the ovary : expression and function
Sammanfattning : Extracellular matrix degrading proteases from the plasminogen (plg) activator (PA) and the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) systems have been implicated as important mediators of ovulation and corpus luteum (CL) formation and regression. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the expression and regulation of PAs and MMPs in the ovary and to examine their functional roles for CL formation and function. LÄS MER
24. Immune regulation in multiple sclerosis : cytokines and metalloproteinases
Sammanfattning : Immunological mechanisms play a central role in the pathogenesis sclerosis (MS). In this study two groups of related immune variables are cytokines and metalloproteinases (MMPs), which regulate each other's production and activation. LÄS MER
25. Inflammatory response in periodontal tissue in children with Down syndrome
Sammanfattning : Periodontal diseases are inflammatory diseases affecting the supporting tissues of the teeth. Subjects with Down syndrome have a higher prevalence of periodontal disease compared to healthy controls. Periodontal disease in Down syndrome is considered to be multifactorial, although the aetiology is uncertain. LÄS MER
