  1. 1. Notch signalling in carcinogenesis : With special emphasis on T-cell lymphoma and colorectal cancer

    Författare :Jonas Ungerbäck; Peter Söderkvist; Ola Hermanson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Notch signalling; T-cell lymphoma; colorectal cancer; Wnt signalling; transcription; Medical cell biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The Notch signalling pathway is an evolutionary conserved pathway, named after the Notch receptors, Notch1-4 in mammals, which upon cell-cell contact and ligand binding releases the intracellular domain (NICD). NICD translocates into the nucleus where it binds the transcriptional repressor RBP-Jk, which together with co-activators belonging to the Mastermind-like family of proteins form a transcriptional activation complex. 2. 2. DNA methylation in T cell leukaemia

    Författare :Maike Bensberg; Colm Nestor; Maria Jenmalm; Sofie Degerman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : T cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (T-ALL) is a predominantly paediatric cancer that stems from malignant transformation of developing T cells. While the disease has an overall survival rate of 80%, the intense chemotherapy treatment causes severe toxicity and long-term side effects. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mechanisms of therapy resistance in acute lymphoblastic leukemia

    Författare :Kinjal Shah; Avdelningen för translationell cancerforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ALL; B-ALL; T-ALL; dexamethasone; FLT3; Signaling pathways; BCL2; resistance; PLK1; synergy;

    Sammanfattning : Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a highly aggressive pediatric cancer that can affect both B cells and T cells. The advent of new therapies has increased the cure rates for both B-ALL and T-ALL patients. However, some patients still experience relapse with a variable response to the treatment and display poor survival. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Regulatory mechanisms controlling T cell activity

    Författare :Anette Sundstedt; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; T cell superantigen anergy interleukin-2 transcription factor cytotoxicity; serology; Immunology; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on work studying the immunoregulatory mechanisms that govern the balance between activation and inactivation of T lymphocytes. Most of the work has been carried out in an experimental system using a T cell receptor (TCR-Vb3) transgenic mouse strain to obtain a homogenous T-cell population and utilizing the properties of bacterial superantigens to induce T cell responses and unresponsiveness in vivo. 5. 5. The immortalization process of T cells : with focus on the regulation of telomere length and telomerase activity

    Författare :Sofie Degerman; Göran Roos; John Sedivy; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :immortalization; senescence; T cells; Nijmegen breakage syndrome; telomere; telomerase; hTERT; generic aberrations; methylation; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cellular immortalization is a major hallmark of cancer and is a multi-step process that requires numerous cell-type specific changes, including inactivation of control mechanisms and stabilization of telomere length. The telomeres at the chromosome ends are essential for genomic stability, and limit the growth potential of most cells. LÄS MER
