  1. 1. Molecular characterization of the Tick-borne encephalitis virus : Environments and replication

    Författare :Wessam Melik; Magnus Johansson; Sonja Best; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tick-borne encephalitis virus; molekylärgenetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : The flavivirus genus is of major concern for world morbidity and mortality and includes viruses causing both encephalitic as well as hemorrhagic diseases. The incidence of Tick-borne encephalitis is increasing in many European countries and several reports have emphasized the expansion of the main vector, Ixodes ricinus. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Host-pathogen interactions during tick-borne flavivirus infection : pathogenesis, tropism and tools

    Författare :Ebba Rosendal; Anna K. Överby Wernstedt; Emma Nilsson; Jonathan D. Gilthorpe; Sonja M. Best; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tick-borne encephalitis virus; Langat virus; pathogenesis; type I interferons; central nervous system; neuroinflammation; structural proteins; Infectious Diseases; infektionssjukdomar; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) is a neurotropic member of the genus Flavivirus. It may transmit to humans through the bite of an infected tick or consumption of unpasteurized dairyproducts, and causes tick-borne encephalitis (TBE). TBE constitutes a significant health burden in Eurasia, with more than 10,000 cases reported every year. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Viperin vs. tick-borne encephalitis virus : mechanism of a potent antiviral protein

    Författare :Kirstin Vonderstein; Anna Överby Wernstedt; Magnus Evander; Sonja Best; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tick-borne encephalitis virus; TBEV; type-I interferon; IFN; Interferon-stimulated gene; ISG; viperin; GBF1; CIAO1; antiviral protein; genome replication; particle release; capsid;

    Sammanfattning : Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) is a very important virus medically, causing mild or severe encephalitis often with long-lasting sequelae. Treatment of tick-borne encephalitis is limited to supportive care, and antiviral drugs are much needed.The type-I interferon (IFN) system is the first line of host defense against many viruses. 4. 4. Infants hospitalised with acute respiratory tract infections. Mapping, description, and evaluation of physiotherapy treatment methods including frequent changes in body position and stimulation of physical activity

    Författare :Sonja Andersson Marforio; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; physical therapy modalities; respiratory tract infections; bronchiolitis; pneumonia; infants; randomized controlled trial;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to increase knowledge about physiotherapy treatment for infants with lower respiratory tract infections, which is the most common reason for infant hospitalisation worldwide. Physiotherapy treatment for these infants is debated, and there is no clear consensus regarding the best treatment strategy. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Rare Earth Metal–Free Permanent Magnet Generators

    Författare :Petter Eklund; Sandra Eriksson; Leijon Mats; Sonja Lundmark; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering Science with specialization in Science of Electricity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektricitetslära;

    Sammanfattning : Permanent magnet (PM) synchronous generators (SGs) are used in renewable energy production. The preferred PM material is neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB), which has very high performance and, until recently, low cost. LÄS MER
