1. Short-lived radionuclides and image analysis in whole-body autoradiography : studies run in parallel with positron emission tomography

2. Development of in vitro and ex vivo positron-emitting tracer techniques and their application to neurotrauma
Sammanfattning : The use of positron-emitting tracers has been extended beyond tomographic facilities in the last few years, giving rise to a general positron-emitting tracing technique. The methodological part of the present thesis involved the evaluation of the performance of storage phosphor (SP) plates, with tracers labeled with high-energy, short-lived, positron-emitting radionuclides, using homogenized tissue specimens and autoradiography with frozen brain sections. 3. The influence of Diluents and Side Groups of the Ligands on Liquid-Liquid Extraction of Actinides and Lanthanides
Sammanfattning : Fossil fuels are no longer a choice for energy production, both because of their diminishing availability and the bi-products of their combustion processes. A possibility to replace the fossil fuels would be utilization of nuclear power. No green-house gases are produced, but as any industry, it generates wastes. LÄS MER
4. Development and Applications of some Radioanalytical Procedures: Analysis of β- and α-Emitting Radionuclides Using Radiometric and ICP-MS Detection Methods
Sammanfattning : Analyses of radionuclides are important in environmental monitoring and in research. However, as in the analysis of many other species, interferences may be a problem. In a-spectrometric detection, 238Pu interferes with 241Am, owing to their similar decay energies. LÄS MER
5. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry in the analysis of radiolabelled compounds for positron emission tomography
Sammanfattning : Methods for liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC/MS) with electrospray ionization (ESI) have been developed for the determination of specific radioactivity and for metabolic studies of radiolabelled compounds used in positron emission tomography (PET). These compounds often provide an analytical challenge mainly due to their low concentrations in complex sample matrices. LÄS MER
