1. Studies of Long-lived Radionuclides in the Environment - with Emphasis on 99Tc, 237Np and Pu Isotopes
Sammanfattning : Studies of the long-lived anthropogenic radionuclides 99Tc, 237Np, 239Pu and 240Pu were performed in marine and terrestrial areas contaminated by different accidental and controlled releases of radioactive materials. The three main sources discussed in this thesis are nuclear weapons tests, nuclear reprocessing plants and the Chernobyl accident. LÄS MER
2. Geochemical modelling of groundwater chemistry in the vicinity of a repository for spent nuclear fuel

3. Development and Applications of some Radioanalytical Procedures: Analysis of β- and α-Emitting Radionuclides Using Radiometric and ICP-MS Detection Methods
Sammanfattning : Analyses of radionuclides are important in environmental monitoring and in research. However, as in the analysis of many other species, interferences may be a problem. In a-spectrometric detection, 238Pu interferes with 241Am, owing to their similar decay energies. LÄS MER
4. Development of procedures for actinide studies : sorption, coprecipitation and solubility of neptunium and plutonium

5. The Use of Aliquat-336 in a Partitioning and Transmutation Process and a Kinetic Study of the Oxidation of U(IV) to U(VI)
Sammanfattning : Spent nuclear fuel contains several long-lived radionuclides that must be stored in a safe manner for a long time. Transmutation of these radionuclides into short-lived or stable nuclides reduces the necessary storage time by several orders of magnitude. The nuclides most suitable for transmutation are those of the actinides. LÄS MER
