16. Thin metal films on weakly-interacting substrates : Nanoscale growth dynamics, stress generation, and morphology manipulation
Sammanfattning : Vapor-based growth of thin metal films with controlled morphology on weakly-interacting substrates (WIS), including oxides and van der Waals materials, is essential for the fabrication of multifunctional metal contacts in a wide array of optoelectronic devices. Achieving this entails a great challenge, since weak film/substrate interactions yield a pronounced and uncontrolled 3D morphology. LÄS MER
17. Human serum transferrin glycosylation pattern : population differences, analytical methodology and application as a biomarker for testing of alcohol abuse and CDG
Sammanfattning : Alcohol use and abuse is a major social and economic problem in many societies. Carbohydrate-deficient transferrin (CDT) is a widely used and highly specific biochemical alcohol marker of prolonged alcohol abuse. LÄS MER
18. Våtmarksord i lulemålen : En ordgrupp sedd ur informant- och intervjuarperspektiv
Sammanfattning : The grass of wetlands in northern Sweden has been utilized for mowing and pasture even in our time. There are a large number of words and expressions, expecially in the dialects, to denote and describe the various types of wetlands. LÄS MER
19. Three-nucleon forces in nuclear physics simulations
Sammanfattning : The aim of this licentiate thesis is to evaluate the normal-ordered two-body (NO2B)-approximation as a computationally promising way to incorporate realistic three-nucleon forces (3NFs) in nuclear many-body simulations using the no-core-shell-model. The existence and importance of 3NFs is predicted in chiral effective field theories of the strong-nuclear force. LÄS MER
20. Biorefinery systems for energy and feed production : greenhouse gas performance and energy balances
Sammanfattning : The current dependence on fossil fuels is problematic because these are a finite resource and because their combustion causes environmental degradation. Biorefineries produce a variety of valuable products from biomass that can replace products from petroleum refineries. LÄS MER
