  1. 21. Conjugated Polymers for Neural Interfaces : Prospects, possibilities and future challenges

    Författare :Maria Asplund; Hans von Holst; Olle Inganäs; Thomas Stieglitz; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; neuroprosthetics; conjugated polymers; conducting polymers; PEDOT; functional electrical stimulation; neural electrodes; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap; Functional materials; Funktionella material;

    Sammanfattning : Within the field of neuroprosthetics the possibility to use implanted electrodes for communication with the nervous system is explored. Much effort is put into the material aspects of the electrode implant to increase charge injection capacity, suppress foreign body response and build micro sized electrode arrays allowing close contact with neurons. 2. 22. Atomic-scale investigation of interfacial structures in WC-Co at finite temperatures

    Författare :Erik Fransson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; complexions; phase diagrams; interfaces; force constants; cluster expansions; atomic-scale modeling; free energies; cemented carbides; WC--Co;

    Sammanfattning : WC-Co cemented carbides combine superb hardness with high toughness making them ideal for usage in high-speed machining of steels and in wear resistance tools. These excellent mechanical properties are to a large extent dependent on the microstructure and thus the interfacial properties of the material. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Molecular Thermodynamic Models for Nano-Micro Fluid/Solid Interfaces

    Författare :Nanhua Wu; Xiaoyan Ji; Yuanhui Ji; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Introducing materials with large interfaces to enhance process performance has become a feature of advanced chemical engineering, where the research focus has been changed from the traditional ideal isotropic fluid in the bulk phase to the highly non-ideal anisotropic confined fluid on the nano-micro interfaces, owing to the strong and asymmetric interactions between the complex fluids (supported metal nanoparticles, ionic liquids, proteins, etc.) and the sophisticated solid-surface (roughness, electrostatic effects, chemical heterogeneities, etc. LÄS MER

  4. 24. The ubiquitous interactor : Mobile services with multiple user interfaces

    Författare :Stina Nylander; Bengt Sandblad; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Datavetenskap med inriktning mot människa-datorinteraktion; Computer Science with specialization in Human-Computer Interaction;

    Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis addresses design and development problems that arise when service providers, and service end-users face the variety of computing devices available on the market. The devices are designed for many types of use in various situations and settings, which means that they have different capabilities in terms of presentation, interaction, memory, etc. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Modelling of thin and imperfect interfaces : Tools and preliminary study

    Författare :Mathieu Gaborit; Peter Göransson; Olivier Dazel; Émeline Sadoulet-Reboul; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thin layers; numerical methods; FEM; poroelastic materials; couches fines; méthodes numériques; MEF; matériaux po- roélastiques; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : For quite some time, the strive for more efficient acoustic absorbers keepsincreasing, driven by a number of psycho-physiological studies on health re-lated dangers of noise exposure. As the global wealth increases and with itthe global expectation of quieter living and working environments, manifestedin both politics and research, an important market for sound absorbing andnoise control systems develops in all industrialised countries.
