11. Exposure, health effects, immunological markers and biomarkers of susceptibility among Swedish rubber workers
Sammanfattning : Workers in the rubber industry have an increased risk of several diseases, such as airway disease, cancer and probably cardiovascular disease. The exposure is very complex; carbon disulfide (CS2) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) being two of the contaminants. LÄS MER
12. Passive sampling of PAHs and some trace organic compounds in occupational and residential air: needs, evaluation and limits
Sammanfattning : Human exposure to elevated levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and trace organic compounds (e.g. PCB, OCP, PBDE) can be related to negative health effects. This raises demands of exposure measurements to be performed. LÄS MER
13. Rapid sample preparation and bioanalytical techniques for efficient screening of organic pollutants in the environment
Sammanfattning : Large numbers of samples often need to be prepared and analysed in surveys of organic pollutants in the environment, but while the methods commonly used in such surveys can provide abundant detail they are generally costly, time-consuming and require large amounts of resources, so there is a need for simpler techniques. The work underlying this thesis assessed the potential utility of more convenient sample preparation and bioanalytical techniques for rapidly screening various environmental matrices that could be useful complements to higher resolution methods. 14. Role of sediment organic matter quality and benthic organisms for the fate of organic contaminants in marine systems
Sammanfattning : Marine sediments constitute important contaminant sources within our environment. Organic matter input to marine sediments changes seasonally in terms of both quantity and quality, and has been profoundly altered in many coastal areas due to eutrophication. LÄS MER
15. Short-Pulse Laser Spectroscopy for Combustion Diagnostics - Laser-Induced Fluorescence of Polyatomic Molecules and Developments in Measurement and Evaluation
Sammanfattning : Combustion is the most important source of energy worldwide. A better understanding of it is essential if pollutant emissions are to be reduced and combustion devices be made more efficient. This requires measurement of physical and chemical combustion parameters. LÄS MER
