  1. 1. Generation of Dopaminergic Neurons from Human Embryonic Stem Cells

    Författare :Tandis Vazin; Joakim Lundeberg; Ernest Arenas; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Human; dopaminergic; embryonic stem cells; differentiation; stromal cells; PA6 cells; dopamine; neurons; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap; Neurobiology; Neurobiologi; Molecular neurobiology; Molekylär neurobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Since the first successful derivation of human embryonic stem cells (hESC), rapid progress has been attained in the development of strategies in differentiation of these cells into various neural lineages, with the fundamental objective of using these cells for replacement and repair of damaged neuronal circuits in the central nervous system (CNS). Of particular interest are midbrain dopaminergic (mDA) neurons, which play a central role in regulation of voluntary movement. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A long and winding road: Differentiating human embryonic stem cells into dopaminergic neurons

    Författare :Oktar Guloglu; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adipocyte; PA6; DZNEP; dopaminergic differentiation; embryonic stem cells;

    Sammanfattning : Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder. Since the motor manifestations of the disease is associated with the loss of dopaminergic (DAergic) neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta, cell replacement therapy is a promising approach for treatment. 3. 3. Directing stem cells and progenitors towards neuronal differentiation - implications for experimental therapies for Parkinson's disease

    Författare :Anke Brederlau; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :stem cells; Parkinson s disease; progenitors; BMP; ASK1; dopamine;

    Sammanfattning : The insight that stem- and progenitor-cells contribute to replacement of nerve cells in the adult central nervous system is the basis of modern therapies for structural brain repair. Their goal is to protect, support and stimulate endogenous stem cells in areas affected by disease and to replace lost cells by transplanting in vitro generated, tailored nerve cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Derivation, enrichment and characterization of dopaminergic neurons from pluripotent stem cells

    Författare :Catherine Michele Schwartz; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Parkinson s disease (PD) is characterized by progressive degeneration of dopaminergic (DA) neurons residing in the substantia nigra and innervating the straitum. Current medical interventions provide initial symptomatic relief, but unfortunately do not slow or reversing the disease course. LÄS MER
