  1. 1. Optically stimulated luminescence dosimetry with NaCl pellets. Dosimetry for prospective applications

    Författare :Lovisa Waldner; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NaCl; OSL; Dosimetry; household salt; pellets; Luminescence;

  2. 2. Household salt as an emergency radiation dosemeter for retrospective dose assessments using optically stimulated luminescence

    Författare :Maria Christiansson; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Optically stimulated luminescence OSL ; household salt; NaCl; retrospective dosimetry; accident dosimetry;

    Sammanfattning : In the event of a radiation accident, it is crucial to make rapid estimates of the absorbed dose received by both emergency workers, so-called first responders, and members of the public. Today, only personnel in rescue teams responding to nuclear emergencies have access to individual dosemeters. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Evaluation of absorbed dose and image quality in mammography

    Författare :Bengt Hemdal; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; optically stimulated luminescence; radioluminescence; in vivo dosimetry; dose reduction; dose protocol; average glandular dose; absorbed dose; Breast cancer; mammography; Monte Carlo; image quality; image quality criteria; contrast-detail phantom;

    Sammanfattning : Mammography refers to the X-ray examination of the human breast, and is considered the single most important diagnostic tool in the early detection of breast cancer, which is by far the most common cancer among women. There is good evidence from clinical trials, that mammographic screening can reduce the breast cancer mortality with about 30%. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Optically Stimulated Luminescence for Retrospective Radiation Dosimetry. The Use of Materials Close to Man in Emergency Situations

    Författare :Therése Geber-Bergstrand; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :Retrospective dosimetry; Emergency dosimetry; OSL;

    Sammanfattning : If an accident or attack involving radiological or nuclear material were to happen, people from the general public would be at risk of exposure to ionising radiation. Unlike people working with ionising radiation, for whom level of exposure to radiation is constantly monitored with dosemeters, people from the general population do not wear dosemeters; thus, the dose estimations for these individuals must be performed using alternative methods. 5. 5. A multimethod approach to dating Quaternary sediments from the Arctic Ocean

    Författare :Gabriel West; Matthew O'Regan; Darrell Kaufman; Helena Alexanderson; Guillaume St-Onge; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic Ocean; Amino Acid Geochronology; Optically Stimulated Luminescence Dating; Palaeomagnetism; maringeologi; Marine Geology;

    Sammanfattning : The marine sedimentary environment in the polar regions is different from the rest of the world’s oceans, as it is greatly influenced by the cryosphere. In the Arctic, sea ice and icebergs can transport vast amounts of sediments, delivered by extensive fluvial systems from the surrounding continents, which have been shaped by the waxing and waning of large terrestrial ice sheets during the Quaternary period.
