11. Release and Clearance Mechanisms of Cardiac Troponin
Sammanfattning : Myocardial infarction (MI) is often suspected when a patient presents with chest pain. MI is defined as cardiac necrosis due to ischemia, most often mediated through impaired coronary perfusion. Cardiac necrosis results in the release of myoglobin, creatine kinase and cardiac troponin (cTn) to the circulation. LÄS MER
12. Protein Folding Simulations in Kink Model
Sammanfattning : The structure of protein is essentially important for life activities. Proteins can perform their functions only by specific structures. In this thesis, the kink and multi-kink model for protein description are reviewed. LÄS MER
13. Cardiac Troponins in Patients with Suspected or Confirmed Acute Coronary Syndrome : New Applications for Biomarkers in Coronary Artery Disease
Sammanfattning : The cardiac troponins are the biochemical markers of choice for the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and risk prediction in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). In this thesis, the role of early serial cardiac troponin I (cTnI) testing was assessed in fairly unselected patient populations admitted because of chest pain and participating in the FAST II-study (n=197) and the FASTER I-study (n=380). 14. Sample handling in nanoscale chemistry
Sammanfattning : Miniaturization is a strong on-going trend within analyticalchemistry. This has led to an increased demand for newtechnologies allowing smaller volumes of samples as well asreagents to be utilized. This thesis deals with the use of openchip-based reactors (vials); a concept that offers an increasedflexibility compared to the use of closed reactors. LÄS MER
15. Affinity biosensors with porous and multi-array surfaces
Sammanfattning : Affinity biosensing is one of many analytical techniques that have high potential for the detection of drug leads. In this thesis the use of ellipsometry, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) as well as quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) as screening methods in drug discovery are presented. LÄS MER
