16. Stress, Drugs and Neuroscience : Neurobiological Effects of Social Stressors and Drug Exposure in Young and Adolescent Rats
Sammanfattning : Experiences early in life or during adolescence modulate neuronal networks in the immature brain and consequently lay the foundation for future susceptibility or resilience towards psychiatric disorders. The objective in this thesis is to understand, in part, how the surrounding environment shapes the brain of a young individual. LÄS MER
17. Mode of delivery, epigenetic modulation and immune cell formation at birth
Sammanfattning : Background: Birth by Cesarean section (CS) has been associated with a greater risk for immune disorders like allergy, asthma, type 1 diabetes, celiac disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, and cancer later in life. Although elective CS continues to increase rapidly, it is unclear if and how it may contribute to future health and disease. LÄS MER
18. Preterm birth : parents' experiences, affect, stress and inflammatory markers
Sammanfattning : Preterm birth (PTB), before 37 completed weeks of gestation, is the principal risk factor for neonatal morbidity and mortality. In Sweden about 5.6% of pregnant women deliver preterm. The etiology of PTB is not fully understood, but it has been suggested that the underlying mechanisms could have both biological and psychosocial origins. LÄS MER
19. Morphometric and molecular variation in the Nordic dogroses (Rosa Sect. Caninae, Rosaceae)
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, I investigate the hierarchical structure of morphometric and molecular diversity within and between the Nordic dogroses (Rosa Sect. Caninae, Rosaceae). I also investigate patterns of geographic differentiation and taxonomic relationships within the group. LÄS MER
20. Systematics, phylogeography and polyploid evolution in the Dactylorhiza maculata complex (Orchidaceae)
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate and describe different aspects of variation in the Dactylorhiza maculata complex and to relate the variation patterns to underlying biological processes such as Quaternary migration history, hybridization and polyploid evolution. The variation patterns were analysed at various geographic levels using molecular markers (plastid DNA and ITS of nrDNA), cytological data, morphometry and ecological data. LÄS MER
