6. Sampling and Selective Detection of Peptides and Proteins Emphazing Microdialysis,Bio-recognition Assays and MALDI-TOF MS
Sammanfattning : The use of microdialysis sampling and flow immunochemical detection as well as MALDI-TOF MS for peptide and protein analysis is described. Sampling of peptides and smaller proteins was investigated with different membranes. LÄS MER
7. Characterisation of the Substituent Distribution in Starch and Cellulose Derivatives
Sammanfattning : Starch and cellulose can be chemically modified to produce derivatives with specific properties. Knowledge of correlations between the modification reaction, substituent distribution and properties is important in order to design modification processes so as to produce derivatives with the desired properties. 8. Stress response in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803
Sammanfattning : Adaptation to environmental changes is important for the survival of living organisms. Under extreme abiotic conditions, organic molecules (such as lipids, proteins and nucleic acids) are prone to damage. LÄS MER
9. New Tools for Analysis of Wood and Pulp Components - Application of MALDI-TOF Mass Spectroscopy and Capillary Zone Electrophoresis
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE),matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight massspectroscopy (MALDI-MS) and size-exclusion chromatography incombination with off-line MALDI-MS (SEC/MALDI-MS) have beenapplied successfully to the analysis of wood and pulpcomponents. The carbohydrate compositions of pulp and holocellulosesamples, as well as of isolated hemicellulose preparations, were determined employing enzymatic hydrolysis and subsequentanalysis of the saccharides released by CZE. 10. Haemophilus influenzae – typing, epidemiology and beta-lactam resistance
Sammanfattning : Haemophilus influenzae is a common cause of respiratory tract infections such as acute otitis media (AOM), exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pneumonia. The species is subdivided into encapsulated and non-encapsulated strains, designated type a-f and nontypeable H. influenzae (NTHi), respectively. LÄS MER
