  1. 21. Pain in rheumatoid arthritis : bone and neuroinflammation-associated mechanisms

    Författare :Resti Rudjito; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Pain is often the primary reason patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) seek medical care. Despite effective disease control with currently available disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), there are still hurdles to overcome as a significant proportion of patients still report continuous pain. 2. 22. Regulation of Immunoglobulin Isotype Switching and of the Germinal Center Response

    Författare :Minghui He; Eva Severinson; Jayanta Chaudhuri; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : After stimulation, B cells can undergo two types of genetic alteration in their immunoglobulin (Ig) genes: somatic hypermutation and class switch recombination (CSR), both of which are initiated by activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID).Although class switching requires cell proliferation, the mechanism is partly unknown. 3. 23. Dysregulated Notch signaling in breast cancer and liver disease

    Författare :Indira Chivukula; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The evolutionarily conserved Notch signaling pathway regulates crucial aspects of development and tissue homeostasis. This thesis contributes research towards understanding a role of non-canonical Notch signaling in the tumor-stroma interaction of breast cancer, provides a bioinformatics-based technology to study these interactions, and proposes a novel mouse model of the liver disease in Alagille syndrome. 4. 24. Telomeres and telomerase and their functional applications in myeloproliferative neoplasms and acute myeloid leukemia

    Författare :Jenny Dahlström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are a group of diseases characterized by hyperproliferation in the myeloid lineages of the bone marrow, leading to increased levels of circulating mature blood cells from one or more lineages. MPNs consist of polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia and primary myelofibrosis. LÄS MER

  5. 25. FET fusion oncoproteins in sarcoma tumorigenesis - lnteractions with the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex and epigenetic effects

    Författare :Malin Lindén; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ewing sarcoma; Epigenetics; FET fusion oncoproteins; Myxoid liposarcoma; Proteomics; SWI SNF BAF chromatin remodeling complex;

    Sammanfattning : The FET family of fusion oncoproteins containing the N-terminal of either FUS, EWSR1 or TAF15 together with a transcription factor partner is the characteristic oncogenic driver of more than 20 types of sarcoma and leukemia, including myxoid liposarcoma and Ewing sarcoma. The FET oncoproteins are thought to function as aberrant transcription factors, however, the exact oncogenic mechanism remains to be elucidated. LÄS MER
