  1. 1. Intrauterine immunology in allergy and infection

    Författare :Erika Rindsjö; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Pregnancy is interesting from an immunological point of view. The maternal immune system has to tolerate the fetus and at the same time also protect against infection. The placenta is not a completely tight barrier: in fact, cells can pass through in both directions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Fetal reactivity assessment during intrapartum stress by analysis of the fetal ECG signal

    Författare :Sofia Blad; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :FHR variability; fetal ECG; Asphyxia; Intrauterine infection; Residual method; STAN;

    Sammanfattning : Fetal responses to the stress of labour and delivery are constituted by a combination of changes in neuronal, hormonal and organ based reactions. The aim of electronic fetal monitoring is to identify fetuses at risk of hypoxia during birth, thus enabling timely intervention to avoid an adverse outcome. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The objectives of this case-control study, investigating 51 in-patient women with acute pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and 50 healthy women attending for routine gynecological check-up, were to investigate the background and reproductive history of women, who are considered at low risk of sexually transmitted infection presenting with PID, to examine whether intrauterine device (IUD) use per se and long use affects the microbiology and clinical course of the disease, to identify risk factors for PID and to examine whether IUD use is an independent risk factor for PID.The most striking difference regarding the background and reproductive history between women with PID and healthy women over age 25 were related to socio-demographic factors and not to common risk factors for PID.     Nyckelord :Human Parvovirus B19; intrauterine fetal death; hematopoiesis; bone marrow suppression; gamma-interferon; immune response; cytotoxic T cell; acute infection; persistent infection;

    Sammanfattning : Human parvovirus B19 (B19) causes erythema infectiosum, a limited disease of childhood also known as the fifth disease or slapped cheek syndrome, referring to the characteristic facial rash. It normally infects through the respiratory route, even though transmission via blood products and transplanted organs occur. LÄS MER
