  1. 6. Hemostatic function and inflammatory activation after weaning from cardio pulmonary bypass

    Författare :Anki Olsson; Sören Berg; Joakim Alfredsson; Rolf Svedjeholm; Erik Håkansson; Tomas Gudbjartsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) contributes to perioperative platelet dysfunction, increased fibrinolysis and impaired coagulation, which can have an impact on postoperative bleeding. During CPB the blood is exposed to foreign surfaces leading to activation of the coagulation system and a systemic inflammatory response with complement and leukocyte activation. LÄS MER

  2. 7. On the role of genetic variation and epigenetics in hemostatic gene regulation

    Författare :Martina Olsson Lindvall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hemostasis; Tissue-type plasminogen activator; Genetics; Epigenetics; DNA methylation;

    Sammanfattning : Many genetic variants have been identified to associate with circulating levels of hemostatic proteins and with thrombotic or hemorrhagic disorders. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown. LÄS MER

  3. 8. The hemostatic pathway in ischemic stroke. Clinical studies of genetic variation and plasma protein measurements

    Författare :Ellen Hanson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ischemic stroke; etiologic subtypes of ischemic stroke; genetics; SNP; hemostasis; prothrombotic; ADAMTS13; VWF; ABO blood group; FSAP; FXI;

    Sammanfattning : Although stroke is a common cause of death and disability in adults, there are few studies on stroke compared to other common diseases. A stroke could be either ischemic or hemorrhagic, but even within these two groups, disease etiology shows heterogeneity. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Cellular markers indicating activation of the hemostatic system : studies on platelets and leukocytes in peripheral human blood

    Författare :Andreia Bunescu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Platelet activation is supposed to initiate thrombus formation in many clinical settings such as coronary artery occlusions, stroke, diabetes mellitus complications, and in surgical interventions. Coagulation and thrombosis are also associated with inflammation in septicemia. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Effects of lipid-lowering treatment on platelet function and hemostatic mechanisms in diabetic patients : influence of chronic kidney disease and inflammatory parameters

    Författare :Tora Almquist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetes mellitus (DM) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) are both associated with increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, and the risk is even higher when they are concurrent. Both diseases are considered to be prothrombotic states with increased inflammatory activity and major disturbances in the hemostasis. LÄS MER
