  1. 1. Simple haptics : Sketching perspectives for the design of haptic interactions

    Författare :Camille Moussette; Daniel Fällman; Bill Buxton; William Verplank; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; interaction design; haptics; haptic interactions; sketching; sketching in hardware; prototypes; prototyping; industrial design; human computer interaction; design research; research through desgin;

    Sammanfattning : Historically, haptics—all different aspects of the sense of touch and its study—has developed around very technical and scientific inquiries. Despite considerable haptic research advances and the obviousness of haptics in everyday life, this modality remains mostly foreign and unfamiliar to designers. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Platform Design : Creating Meaningful Toolboxes When People Meet

    Författare :David Joaquin Cuartielles Ruiz; Teemu Leinonen; Malmö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Platform Design; Interaction Design;

    Sammanfattning : Platform Design is a study of different viewpoints on the creation of digital systems, and how they converge in platforms designed, built, and managed by communities. As sociotechnical constructs in which features emerge through the interaction of different stakeholders, platforms are understood as both means and outcomes—the ‘things’ or boundary objects in a design process—generating the spaces where communities of practice can form. 3. 3. Shape and Being Shaped : Sketching with Haptics in Soma Design

    Författare :Charles Windlin; Kristina Höök; Jarmo Laaksolahti; Anders Lundström; Bill Buxton; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sketching; Soma Design; Constructive Design Research; Haptic Interaction Design; first-person; Människa-datorinteraktion; Human-computer Interaction;

    Sammanfattning : Sketching is an integral part of the design process, and it often occurs in the early ideation phase where the focus is on expressing ideas, thoughts, and emotions, allowing them to take shape and making it possible to share them with others to propel the design process forwards. In principle, sketching is a process of externalising thoughts into visualisations, and it influences the creator and collaborators by enabling them to realise and reflect on the possibility and viability of their ideas and develop them further by adding to or subtracting from the sketches. 4. 4. Preparing Spatial Haptics for Interaction Design

    Författare :Jonas Forsslund; Eva-Lotta Sallnäs Pysander; Ylva Fernaeus; Jan Gulliksen; Karl-Johan Lundin-Palmerius; Karon MacLean; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; haptics; interaction design; surgery simulation; haptik; interaktionsdesign; medicinsk simulering; kirurgi; Människa-datorinteraktion; Human-computer Interaction;

    Sammanfattning : Spatial haptics is a fascinating technology with which users can explore and modify3D computer graphics objects with the sense of touch, but its application potentialis often misunderstood. For a large group of application designers it is still unknown,and those who are aware of it often have either too high expectations of what is technicallyachievable or believe it is too complicated to consider at all. 5. 5. Non-Visual Haptic Interaction Design - Guidelines and Applications

    Författare :Calle Sjöström; Certec - Rehabiliteringsteknik och Design; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Design Guidelines; Computer access; Care and help to handicapped; vård och rehabilitering; Handikappade; Blind People; Haptics; Human-Computer Interaction;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation has three cornerstones: * Haptics * Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) * Blind Users Haptics deals with controlling human movements and getting feedback through the sense of touch. A haptic interface transmits forces to a person’s hand or fingers in a way that mimics the sensation of touching real objects. LÄS MER
