1. Carbon Nitride : Characterization and Protein Interactions
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns synthesis and characterization of carbon-based materials and theinvestigation of the possible use, of a selection of these materials, in biomedicalapplications. Protein adsorption and blood plasma tests were used for this purposeutilizing a surface sensitive technique called spectroscopic ellipsometry. LÄS MER
2. Stage T1 Urinary Bladder Carcinoma : Investigation of A Population-Based Cohort
Sammanfattning : Approximately 2 300 new cases of urinary bladder carcinoma (UBC) are diagnosed every year in Sweden. This type of cancer is characterized as a long-standing disease with a high risk of recurrence and progression from an indolent to a more aggressive course. LÄS MER
3. Long-Term Posttraumatic Stress in Survivors from Disasters and Major Accidents
Sammanfattning : Disasters and major accidents are a significant cause of distress worldwide. High levels of posttraumatic stress can become chronic after severe and prolonged psychological trauma, raising concerns about the extent of adverse long-term consequences after single events. LÄS MER
4. Multifunctional nanostructured Ti-Si-C thin films
Sammanfattning : In this Thesis, I have investigated multifunctional nanostructured Ti-Si-C thin films synthesized by magnetron sputtering in the substrate-temperature range from room temperature to 900 °C. The studies cover high-temperature growth of Ti3SiC2 and Ti4SiC3, low-temperature growth of Ti-Si-C nanocomposites, and Ti-Si-C-based multi¬layers, as well as their electrical, mechanical, and thermal-stability properties. 5. Thick and Thin Ti2AlC Coatings
Sammanfattning : This Thesis explores the deposition techniques of magnetron sputtering and high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spraying for Ti2AlC as a promising high-temperature material. Magnetron sputtering aims at producing thin (≤1 μm) Ti2AlC films of high crystal quality for use as a model system in understanding the material’s basic properties. LÄS MER
