2. Central venous access devices in patients with haematological malignancies care, complications and home treatment
Sammanfattning : A well functioning central venous access device (CVAD) that will remain in situ free from complications during the entire treatment period, is highly desirable in the management of patients with aggressive haematological malignancies. Unfortunately, such a goal is not likely to be achieved due to the high rate of CVAD-related complications. LÄS MER
3. Risk factors for haematological malignancies : immune-mediated diseases, body mass index and magnetic fields
Sammanfattning : Haematological malignancies constitute approximately 7% of all cancer cases in Sweden, and leukaemia is in fact the most common malignancy among children. The few established risk factors, such as ionising radiation and immunodeficiency, only explain a small number of the cases. LÄS MER
4. Indicators of apoptosis and proliferation in haematological malignancies : with special reference to drug resistance and prognosis
Sammanfattning : Successful treatment of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) and high-grade non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (HG- NHL) is hampered by development of drug resistance. A better understanding of mechanisms responsible for drug resistance and the identification of factors that predict response to therapy is essential to improve treatment. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : Post-transplant malignancies cause significant morbidity and mortality. In this thesis we investigated malignancies in renal transplanted patients from a clinical viewpoint. The use of regional tumour registries considerably improved identification of pre- and post-transplant malignancies, which are generally underreported in transplant registries. LÄS MER
