1. Miscarriage : women’s experience and its cumulative incidence
Sammanfattning : Many women experience miscarriage every year. Every fourth woman who has given birth reports that she has previous experience of miscarriage. In a study of all women in the Swedish Medical Birth Register 1983-2003, we found that the number of cases of self reported miscarriage had increased in Sweden during this 21 year period. LÄS MER
2. Dilute Nitride Lasers and Spectrally Engineered Semiconductor Laser Resonators
Sammanfattning : The first part of this thesis deals with long wavelength (1.2-1.3 um) InGaAs(N)multiple quantum-well (QW) lasers grown on GaAs, with the aim of understandingand improving their threshold and temperature characteristics. The epitaxialmaterial is grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). LÄS MER
3. Threshold and Temperature Characteristics of InGa(N)As-GaAs Multiple Quantum Well Lasers
Sammanfattning : Semiconductor lasers emitting in the 1.3 μm regime are of interest for applications in access-networks like fiber-to-the-home and radio-over-fiber systems. Suchfiber optical networks are expected to replace the copper-based access-networks currently in use due to a continuously increasing demand on user bandwidth. LÄS MER
4. Diagnostic Evaluation of Schizophrenia for Genetic Studies
Sammanfattning : Schizophrenia is one of the most severe mental disorders. Heredity is accepted as a major causative factor. To find molecular mechanisms behind schizophrenia, patient materials with reliable and valid diagnoses must be identified. LÄS MER
5. Bacterial Vaginosis : Diagnosis, Prevalence, and Treatment
Sammanfattning : Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is a disorder of unknown etiology, characterized by a foul smelling vaginal discharge, loss or reduction of the normal vaginal Lactobacilli, and overgrowth of other anaerobic bacteria. Thus, it presents a formidable problem for clinicians as well as microbiologists researching its etiology, clinical course, treatment, and epidemiology. LÄS MER
