  1. 1. Impact of food quality on aquatic consumers : Behavioral and physiological adjustments

    Författare :Alfred Burian; Winder Monika; Kevin Flynn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Food quantity and quality together determine growth rates of consumers and the utilisation efficiencies of available resources in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. The effect of food quality on the performance of consumers is dependent on both, its direct influence on ingestion and assimilation rates, and on the behavioural and physiological adjustments of consumers to their food environment. 2. 2. Birth cohort differences in cognitive aging: Secular trends in cognitive functioning and decline over 30 years in three population-based Swedish samples

    Författare :Peter Karlsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Aging; cardiovascular risk factors; cognitive decline; cohort differences; fluid and crystallized abilities; Flynn effect; longitudinal;

    Sammanfattning : The overarching aim of this thesis was to investigate birth cohort differences in level of cognitive functioning and change in later life in three population-based representative samples drawn from the Gerontological and Geriatric Population Studies in Gothenburg (H70), Sweden. We used data from cohorts, born in 1901-02, 1906-07, and 1930, measured at ages 70, 75, and 79 on the same cognitive measures. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Intelligence and models for cognitive development

    Författare :Linda Wänström; Daniel Thorburn; Gösta Hägglund; Dag Sörbom; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; intelligence; cognitive development; sample size; multilevel models; latent growth curve models; Statistics; Statistik; statistik; Statistics;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation focuses on cognitive development. In papers I and II, I study a special model, the second order latent growth curve model, that can be used to study cognitive development. Algebraic expressions for the variance of the estimation of slope differences are given. LÄS MER
