  1. 1. The Multifunctional HnRNP A1 Protein in the Regulation of the Cyp2a5 Gene : Connecting Transcriptional and Posttranscriptional Processes

    Författare :Tina Glisovic; Matti Lang; Francoise Raffalli-Mathieu; Lorenz Poellinger; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; Cyp2a5; DNA-protein interaction; gene regulation; hnRNP A1; nucleocytoplasmic shuttling; RNA-protein interaction; RNA stabilization; posttranscriptional; transcriptional; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; Farmaceutisk biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The mouse xenobiotic-inducible Cyp2a5 gene is both transcriptionally and posttranscriptionally regulated. One of the most potent Cyp2a5 inducers, the hepatotoxin pyrazole, increases the CYP2A5 mRNA half-life. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nanofluidics for Static and Dynamic DNA-Protein Interaction Studies - Repair of Double-Strand Breaks from a Single-Molecule Perspective

    Författare :Robin Öz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Single-molecule; Protein; NHEJ; Dynamic; DNA repair; HR; Biomolecule interactions; Microscopy; Fluorescence; Nanofluidics;

    Sammanfattning : Double-strand breaks (DSBs) is one of the most lethal forms of DNA damage. A single DSB may result in stalling of vital cellular machineries, and thus, requires immediate measures by the cell. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Unveiling Mechanistic Details of Macromolecular Interactions: Structural Design and Molecular Modelling of DNA-Protein Systems in Their Active State

    Författare :Anna Reymer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Sammanfattning : Molecular structure is fundamental for understanding mechanisms of molecular interactions. This applies not least to understanding biological function: every biological cell, whether bacterial or human, is an immensely complex system of thousands of molecules that exist in constant motion and interaction with each other. 4. 4. Thermodynamics of protein-DNA interactions

    Författare :Thomas Lundbäck; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :DNA-protein interactions; molecular recognition; thermodynamics; specificity.dehydration; salt dependence.;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis treats the molecular recognition between DNA-binding proteins and DNA and the way these interactions are affected by the surrounding water solution and dissolved solutes. The work involves studies on the thermodynamics of sequence specific DNA-binding of the human glucocorticoid receptor DNA-binding domain and the nonsequence specific DNA- binding of Sso7d from the archaeon Sulfolobus solfataricus. 5. 5. Squamous cell carcinomas and preneoplastic lesions of the oral cavity : biological factors and prognosis

    Författare :Anders Högmo; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :mouth neoplasm; carcinoma squamous cell; DNA; protein p53; p21 WAF1; leukoplakia; malignancy grading; angiogenesis; p53 gene; CDGE; mutation analysis;

    Sammanfattning : In Sweden, squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity comprises only 0.8% of the total cancer incidence. However, this disease often has a poor prognosis and the treatment frequently means some degree of disfiguration of the patient. LÄS MER
