21. High order summation-by-parts methods in time and space
Sammanfattning : This thesis develops the methodology for solving initial boundary value problems with the use of summation-by-parts discretizations. The combination of high orders of accuracy and a systematic approach to construct provably stable boundary and interface procedures makes this methodology especially suitable for scientific computations with high demands on efficiency and robustness. 22. Design foundations for content-rich acoustic interfaces : Investigating audemes as referential non-speech audio cues
Sammanfattning : To access interactive systems, blind and visually impaired users can leverage their auditory senses by using non-speech sounds. The current structure of non-speech sounds, however, is geared toward conveying user interface operations (e.g., opening a file) rather than large theme-based information (e. LÄS MER
23. Modelling and Simulation of Electro-catalysts for Green Energy : From Solvated Complexes to Solid-Liquid Interfaces
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I have worked with solid-liquid interfaces, adsorbed molecules on the surface, and solvated complexes using Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations to find possible signatures that could help design suitable energy materials. More specifically, I have explored hybrid electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), XPS fingerprints of gas-phase melamine (monomer, dimer, trimer, and hexagonal packed arrangement), hexagonally packed melamine adsorbed on the Au(111) surface, and high-valence Ruthenium complexes along a reaction pathway in aqueous solution through a joint theory-experiment approach. 24. Molecular Simulations of Microstructure, Thermodynamics, and Dynamics of Complex Liquid Mixtures at Interfaces and Confined Spaces
Sammanfattning : In modern chemical engineering, process intensification is realised by introducing a nano- or micro-interface. The introduction of such an interface breaks the homogeneous nature of the fluid and forms a unique nano- or micro-interfacial structure, which has a significant impact on the properties of fluids. 25. Random and optimal configurations in complex function theory
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of six articles spanning over several areas of mathematical analysis. The dominant theme is the study of random point processes and optimal point configurations, which may be though of as systems of charged particles with mutual repulsion. LÄS MER
