1. Mechanical behaviour of adhesive layers : experimental methods, cohesive laws, and fracture mechanics
Sammanfattning : Adhesive joining is today viewed as one of the key technologies to achieve decreased emissions in the automobile industry. To decrease weight, optimal material selection often results in different materials for different parts. This leads to the necessity to join mixed material. Here, the use of adhesives is the most promising joining technology. LÄS MER
2. Cohesive modelling of the temperature dependence of epoxy based adhesives in Mode I and Mode II loading
Sammanfattning : In this work, the influence of the temperature on the cohesive laws for two epoxy adhesives is studied at temperatures below the glass transition temperature for both Mode I and Mode II loading. Cohesive laws are measured experimentally under quasi-static loading conditions in the temperature range -30≤T≤80"C" . LÄS MER
3. On Cohesive Modelling of Carbon/Epoxy Composites : Delamination and Fibre Compressive Failure
Sammanfattning : Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymers are widely used in engineering applications where weight saving and high mechanical performance are a key factors. However, an inheren tweakness of laminated CFRP:s is there relatively low resistance to delamination. Therst part of this thesis is devoted to extract cohesive laws associated with delamination. 4. Application of cohesive modeling in joining technology
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACTThis thesis summarizes the development of cohesive modeling of joints. It presents some new developments regarding the effects of non-zero thickness of adhesive layers and a novel approach of using the concept of cohesive modeling to characterize the failure behavior of rivet joints. 5. Influences of temperature, fatigue and mixed mode loading on the cohesive properties of adhesive layers
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns some aspects that have influence on the strength of adhesive layers. The strength is determined by the stress deformation-relation of the layer. This relation is also referred to as cohesive law. LÄS MER
