  1. 1. Facets of chemical bonding that enhance or encumber conceptual understanding

    Författare :Anders Nimmermark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; student surveys; chemical bonding; secondary school; tertiary education; coordination chemistry; conceptual understanding;

    Sammanfattning : Chemical bonding is a vast subject, rich in abstract concepts and advanced and less-advanced explanatory models that the learner has to master. In this context, the teaching of chemical bonding at the secondary school level is extremely important, as it has the potential to increase or hinder students’ further understanding of bonding. 2. 2. Teaching and learning of chemical bonding models : Aspects of textbooks, students’ understanding and teachers’ professional knowledge

    Författare :Anna Bergqvist; Shu-Nu Chang Rundgren; Pernilla Nilsson; Ingo Eilks; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemical bonding models; Pedagogical content knowledge; Teachers professional development; Chemistry education; Students learning; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Despite the growing importance of science and technology in society, school students consider these subjects irrelevant and hard to learn. Teachers must therefore know how to teach science in ways that enhance students’ understanding and interest. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Models in chemistry education : A study of teaching and learning acids and bases in Swedish upper secondary schools

    Författare :Michal Drechsler; Jan van Driel; Helge Strömdahl; Ingo Eilks; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chemistry Education; Chemistry; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis reports an investigation of how acid-base models are taught and understood in Swedish upper secondary school. The definition of the concepts of acids and bases has evolved from a phenomenological level to an abstract (particle) level. Several models of acids and bases are introduced in Swedish secondary school. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Sharing lived experience : How upper secondary school chemistry teachers and students use narratives to make chemistry more meaningful

    Författare :Agneta Boström; Per Olof Wickman; Russell Tytler; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation concerns the place of teachers’ and students’ narratives in making school chemistry more meaningful to students. The material was collected at upper secondary school courses and consists of interviews with six experienced chemistry teachers, five adult students attending evening classes and six younger students. 5. 5. Coteaching chemical bonding with Upper secondary senior students : A way to refine teachers PCK

    Författare :Felix Schultze; Pernilla Nilsson; Zimmerman Nilsson Marie-Helene; Anna Vikström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Coteaching; pedagogical content knowledge; pck; chemical bonding; representations; chemistry education; chemistry didactic;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to investigate how an experienced chemistry teacher gains and refines her pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) by cooperating with two grade 12 students (age 18) as coteachers while teaching chemical bonding in a grade 10 Upper secondary class. The study has been conducted from a sociocultural perspective, especially Vygotsky’s zone of proximal development (ZPD) (Vygotsky, 1978). LÄS MER
