16. Synthesis of Nanoparticles and Organometallic Complexes for Gas Sensing
Sammanfattning : Currently metal nanoparticles (NPs) are a subject of interest regarding many applications, in particular chemical gas sensing, as the associated environmental issues are of substantial importance. Metal NPs are attractive due to their fascinating optical properties and primarily, localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) which strongly depends on size and shape of NPs. LÄS MER
17. Norbornadienes for Solar Thermal Energy Storage and New Applications
Sammanfattning : The energy demand worldwide is steadily increasing, therefore it is fundamental to efficiently utilise renewable energy resources. Energy storage technologies are partic- ularly relevant in order to be able to exploit renewable energy resources such as solar energy, since these are typically intermittent and not evenly distributed. 18. Chemical Doping of Conjugated Polymers for Thermoelectric Applications
Sammanfattning : The ongoing development of interconnected and wearable small devices, which together make up the so-called Internet of Things, is driving a rising need for autonomous and on-site energy supplies. Heat, an abundant and often wasted energy source, can be harnessed through thermoelectric generators that can directly convert heat into electricity. LÄS MER
19. Chemically Modified Metal Oxide Nanostructures Electrodes for Sensing and Energy Conversion
Sammanfattning : The goal of this thesis is the development of scalable, low cost synthesis of metal oxide nanostructures based electrodes and to correlate the chemical modifications with their energy conversion performance. Methods in energy conversion in this thesis have focused on two aspects; a potentiometric chemical sensor was used to determine the analytical concentration of some components of the analyte solution such as dopamine, glucose and glutamate molecules. 20. Parameter estimation in heterogeneous catalysis
Sammanfattning : The detailed modelling of heterogeneous catalytic systems is challenging due to the unknown nature of new catalytic materials as well as the often required transient nature of the resulting models. Thus, this thesis deals with the methodologies involved in the kinetic modelling of heterogeneous catalysis and in particular NOx reduction systems. LÄS MER
