  1. 1. Salmonid behaviour under winter conditions

    Författare :Johan Watz; Larry Greenberg; Eva Bergman; John Piccolo; Richard Cunjak; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; climate change; drift; energy budget; foraging; grayling; ice cover; lotic; metabolic rate; predation; salmon; stream; stress; temperature; trout; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Winter conditions are believed to play an important role in the population dynamics of northern temperate stream fish, challenging the ability of fish to physiologically and behaviourally adapt. Climate change is predicted to increase both mean temperature and temperature fluctuations, especially during winter, leading to dynamic environmental conditions in terms of river ice production and flow. 2. 2. Neurotoxic Effects of Nicotine During Neonatal Brain Development : Critical Period and Adult Susceptibility

    Författare :Emma Ankarberg; Per Eriksson; Richard F. Seegal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; nicotine; neonatal development; behaviour; nicotinic receptors; susceptibility; cholinergic system; paraoxon; PBDE; Biologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examined neurotoxic effects of nicotine exposure during a defined critical period of neonatal brain development in mice.In our environment there are numerous hazardous contaminants that an individual can be exposed to during its entire lifetime. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Driving assessment and driving behaviour

    Författare :Helena Selander; Torbjörn Falkmer; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : IntroductionDriving is an important part of everyday life and represents independence. Activities, both productive and social, may be affected if a person can no longer drive. Older drivers, as a group, have a low crash rate. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Vetenskap på gränsen

    Författare :Tora Holmberg; Kaj Håkanson; Mark Elam; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sociology; discourse analysis; sociology of science; cultural studies; Donna Haraway; boundary politics; figure; behavioural genetics; genomics; behaviour; human animal; twin; Sociologi; Sociology; Sociologi; Sociology; sociologi;

    Sammanfattning : With behavioural genetic twin- and animal-studies as a point of departure, this thesis investigates how the polyphonic talk about genes creates certain conditions for how “human behaviour” can be constructed, how the politics of boundary fixing contributes to and undermines respectively, credible narratives about human behaviour and, in the extension, about what constitutes human-ness. Furthermore, sociology is used as a sounding board in order to investigate what behavioural genetic knowledge can promote in terms of sociological insights and vice versa. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Casting for Knowledge and Landing Understanding : Exploring the management of Swedish recreational fisheries as social-ecological systems

    Författare :Samuel Blyth; Patrik Rönnbäck; Malgorzata Blicharska; Stian Stensland; Shannon D. Bower; Anssi Vainikka; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Recreational Fisheries; Fisheries Management; Catch Release; Social-ecological System; Angler Behaviour; Fish Behaviour; Fish Welfare; Stakeholder Engagement; Natural Resources and Sustainable Development; Naturresurser och hållbar utveckling;

    Sammanfattning : The successful management of recreational fisheries must balance ecological, and social goals; select from and implement a range of management tools; operate under often complex governance structures; and contend with diverse human stakeholders’ expectations, desires, and actual behaviour in response to management activities. This complexity also means that there are many knowledge and research gaps regarding the information needed to meet the requirements of specific fisheries. LÄS MER
