  1. 1. Adenovirus species B interactions with CD46

    Författare :Dan Gustafsson; Ya-Fang Mei; Urs Greber; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Adenovirus 11; CD46; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Adenoviruses (Ad) are double-stranded (ds) DNA, non-enveloped viruses. There are seven species (A-G) of human Ads with 52 knownserotypes to date. Human Ads cause a broad range of pathologies, ranging from upper respiratory tract infections to persistent urinary tract infections. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Human adenoviruses : new bioassays for antiviral screening and CD46 interaction

    Författare :Emma Andersson; Göran Wadell; Sigvard Olofsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adenovirus; CD46; hemagglutination; antiviral; small molecule; screening; Virology; Virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Adenoviruses are common pathogens all over the world. The majority of the population has at some point been infected with an adenovirus. Although severe disease can occur in otherwise healthy individuals an adenovirus infection is most commonly self limited in these cases. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Cellular receptors for species B adenoviruses

    Författare :Marko Marttila; Niklas Arnberg; Göran Wadell; Tomas Bergström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adenovirus; CD46; CD80; CD86; Species B; Receptor; Internalization; Infection; Tropism; Virology; Virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Adenoviruses belong to the most common human pathogens. The severity of infection varies greatly, from subclinical to lethal, depending on the virus type and immune status of the infected host. The 51 known human adenovirus serotypes are divided into six species (A-F) based on characteristics such as tropism. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Macrophage programming and host responses to bacterial infection

    Författare :Xiao Wang; Hong Sjölinder; Martin Rottenberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Macrophages; meningococci; mycobacteria; NhhA; CD46; cytokines; molekylärgenetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Macrophages are dynamic, plastic, and heterogeneous immune cells that play an important role in host immune defense against bacterial infection. Various bacterial pathogens, such as Neisseria meningitidis and Mycobacterium tuberculosis, can modulate host immune responses by interfering with macrophage differentiation and polarization. 5. 5. Receptor Interactions Between Pathogenic Bacteria and Host Cells

    Författare :Lena Lövkvist; Ann-Beth Jonsson; Heiko Herwald; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Microbiology; Type IV pili; Lipooligosaccharide; ScpC protease; CD46; Mikrobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on host and pathogen specific interactions during invasive disease. We have investigated the role and impact of different virulence factors of Neisseria gonorrhoeae, N. meningitidis and Streptococcus pyogenes on host epithelial cells and in vivo. N. LÄS MER
