  1. 1. Heat-transfer Enhancement for Slurries from Biogas Plants− Properties, processes, and thermal systems

    Författare :Jingjing Chen; Xiaoyan Ji; Bona Lu; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat-transfer enhancement; slurry; rheological properties; computational fluid dynamics; twisted tubes; biogas production; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Sammanfattning :  Biomethane production from renewable residues with anaerobic digestion gains increasing attention as a crucial alternative to petroleum fuels. It has been vigorously developed, but the large amounts of subsidy from the government indicate that the process efficiency needs to be further improved. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A Unificationist Theory of Scientific Explanation

    Författare :Rebecca Schweder; Teoretisk filosofi; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; theory reduction; explanatory argument; covering law model; unificationism; scientific explanation; understanding; Philosophical logic; Teoretisk filosofi; logik;

    Sammanfattning : What is the relation between scientific explanation and understanding? The thesis investigates a notion of understanding that is believed to be central to scientific explanation. The role of understanding in explanation is double: it is both an essential component, as well as a criterion, by which we select bona fide explanations from non-explanations. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Land och fæ : strukturellt-rättsfilologiska studier i fornnordiskt lagspråk över beteckningar för egendom i allmänhet med underkategorier

    Författare :Bo Ruthström; tolkning i offentlig sektor och översättning danska och isländska Avdelningen för svenska; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Språkvetenskap; Philology; pre-medieval; regional law; medieval law; linguistic geography; onomasiology; terminology; property in general; movable and immovable property; structural shift; Old Nordic; Proto-Nordic; lauss eyrir; Roman law; Christian church; legal history; Harald Bluetooth; Hákon Aðalsteinsfóstri; Harald Finehair; Scandinavian languages and literature; Nordiska språk språk och litteratur ;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigates the stock of words for PROPERTY IN GENERAL with the subcategories MOVABLE and IMMOVABLE PROPERTY in the regional medieval Scandinavian laws and makes a linguistic-geographical analysis of these words with the aim of establishing a relative term chronology. A crude analysis shows that fé/fæ for PROPERTY IN GENERAL and land for IMMOVABLE PROPERTY were the oldest terms. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Coiled coil cytoskeleton in cell architecture and osmotic stress response in Streptomyces

    Författare :Katsuya Fuchino; Molekylär cellbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coiled coil protein; Streptomyces coelicolor; polar growth; osmotic-stress response; turgor;

    Sammanfattning : Coiled coil proteins emerge as important determinants of bacterial cellular organization. Several such proteins display properties characteristic to metazoan intermediate filament (IF) proteins, and are therefore designated bacterial IF-like proteins. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Terrestrial consequences of hypervelocity impact – shock metamorphism, shock barometry, and newly discovered impact structures

    Författare :Sanna Alwmark; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :Impact cratering; Impact structure; Shock metamorphism; Shock barometry; Quartz; Planar deformation features; Siljan; Målingen; Hummeln;

    Sammanfattning : Impact cratering was once considered a rare geological process of no, or little, importance to the evolution of the Solar System and planet Earth. After more than 50 years of space exploration and the discovery of numerous (~190 as of October 2016) impact structures on Earth, this view has changed, and it is now clear that impact craters are in fact one of the most common morphological features on solid bodies in the Solar System.
